Glen "Big Baby" Davis missed practice in Boston today with hand injury, status for tomorrow vs. Cavs uncertain
I thanked you, but there is a major part of your preview missing. I will lend a helping hand:
If he does enter the game I expect nothing short of a standing ovation from the crowd at the Q ...
Agreed. I know I'll be up with the crowd. In all honesty, Delonte deserves it. He's a huge part of this team and hearing the city support him with a raucous ovation may just help him along.

WALTHAM —
The day before opening a highly anticipated season, the Boston Celtics had a distraction to deal with on Monday.
According to various reports, third-year forward Glen Davis suffered a broken right thumb during an altercation with a friend on Sunday night and could miss up to two months.
Davis was reportedly hurt defending himself against a former teammate who was visiting the Boston area from Louisiana, according to the Boston Herald.
He reported to Celtics practice on Monday morning but complained of pain in his hand and was sent for X-rays. Davis did not accompany the team on its 3:30 flight to Cleveland where the Celtics play their first game tonight against the Cavaliers.
“I am not making a public statement until we have all of the facts relative to the injury,’’ executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge told the Boston Globe on Monday night. “We sent him for a scan and further tests. It looks like he’s going to be out for a while.’’
There are indications that Davis, who signed a two-year contract in August after being a restricted free agent, will be out from six to eight weeks and may need surgery.
Coach Doc Rivers told reporters after practice he was in the dark about what happened to Davis.
“He hurt his hand, so we sent him for X-rays,’’ Rivers said. “Other than that, no news, don’t know anything.’’
Asked how Davis was injured, Rivers said, “I don’t know that either, honestly. We just sent him out and we’ll find out more about it later. It was before (practice), but he was complaining so we told him to get out of here and go get an X-ray.’’
Davis was slated to be part of a second unit with newcomers Rasheed Wallace, Marquis Daniels and Eddie House.
When Kevin Garnett was unable to play in the postseason last spring, Davis stepped in and averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 14 games.
The Celtics will have only 11 players in uniform tonight as Bill Walker, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine were already slated to be on the inactive list.
The bench will now consist of Wallace, Daniels, House, J.R. Giddens, Shelden Williams and rookie Lester Hudson as the Celtics go against LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal.
Andy's Mission tonight : Send Rasheed into a technical getting, expletive laden, frenzy with his hustle, hard work, and intense defense, something that Rasheed Wallace is apparently allergic too.
