Game 1 | Cavaliers vs Celtics | October 27, 2009 | 7:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Delonte does suit up tonight I hope Hickson is knocked out of the rotation and the cavaliers put KG's knee to the test. I want to see

Mo/Delonte/Parker/LeBron/Shaq

A small line up for more than 10 minutes where KG is forced to guard LeBron out on the perimeter. That'll force a one on one match up at center, and shaq can get the rest of their bigs in foul trouble. Sheed can't really defend anyone anymore, and perkins isn't much to be concerned about. The celtics defense relies a lot on KG and when he's forced to defend away from the basket they break down. And KG can defend the hoop and the three point line, but I want to test that tonight.

The goal is very simple. Kill KG. Make him defend the perimeter, don't let him roam around the basket freely the whole night.

This could be a failed strategy with as good as the celtics rebound but I think it'll be worth the risk of testing KG's limits.

Big Baby out for two months because of surgery on broken thumb--

Potentially susspended by team as well--

Well, now our preseason worries are on par with the C's.

We may be unsure about Delonte and be a little behind because of sickness & injury...

...But the C's have 2 players that are stirring the pot the wrong way... Glen Davis is pissing them off, and Rondo just said he is a top 5 point guard in the league, and should be paid as such, and doesn't feel the Celts are treating him accordingly.

Playing field = Leveled.

Cavs FTW!

For those who are looking at our pre-season record just remember we went 3-5 last year in the preseason and went on to win 66. Pre-season is meaningless.

I'm glad Baby's hurt and I'm glad him and Rondo are pissing the Celtics off.

The more I get jacked up for this game, the more I realize how much I hate these guys. I hate them way more than anyone on the Magic/Lakers...they are the biggest dicks I've ever witnessed in sports, and it makes me sick how they feel so entitled just because they're the Celtics. It's pathetic and disgusting.

The fact is, they have 3, and possibly 4 or 5 Hall of Famers on that team. They should win. It should be a joke when they don't win. But those three Hall of Famers can't grow enough balls to come into quaint little Cleveland and squeak out a win against the Cavs. They can't. And they won't.

I hate them so much. I was brought up not to hate anyone, and I legitimately believe that I don't hate anyone besides these f*cks. I hope KG picks a fight with Boobie (the only Cav small enough for him to pick on) and I hope we sic Darnell on him. I want to destroy these sad sacks more than anything right now. I'm talking a humiliating win. One that could potentially cause mental damage to those douchebags.

I want to see some of this tonight from 'Sheed.

Windhorst Beat Blog: Delonte West "doubfful" vs. Celtics

Starting lineups

Celtics: Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins.

Cavs: Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, LeBron James, Anderson Varejao, Shaquille O'Neal

Officials

Steve Javie, Tony Brothers, Derek Richardson

Delonte West was listed as doubtful by the Cavs following shootaround this morning at The Q. This is not surprising but it is a disappointment not just for the fans but also the players. Yesterday LeBron James said he was hoping West would be able to join the team for the first big game. This continued yo-yoing, even within the team, must cause distraction no matter what anyone says.

Glen Davis is out of tonight's game with a broken right thumb, which he suffered in a fight with a college teammate Saturday. Reports out of Boston suggest he could miss the next 4-6 weeks and that the Celtics owner, who is not pleased, may suspend him for his actions. The short term impact on the Cavs is this: the Celtics are a little thin up front because Brian Scalabrine is also out. So expect big doses of Rasheed Wallace and Shelden Williams tonight off the bench. This is the depth the Celtics didn't have last season, especially after current Cav Leon Powe got hurt.

Strategically, tonight keep an eye on how the Celtics decide to defend Shaq early. Last week in Columbus in a preseason game Boston played Shaq 1-on-1 and he had success against both Perkins and Wallace. It is the Celtics nature to play this way as much as possible, last year in the playoffs Perkins did an excellent job holding Dwight Howard in check by himself. The Cavs might look to test that early.

As for an adjustment the Cavs will make, look for them to pay more attention to Marquis Daniels, who scored 19 points on them last week working mostly off the weakside. The Cavs will be keeping a closer eye on him off the bench.

I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a Cavs fan can feel, a Cavs fan at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can we make it back to the Finals. I hope to see my friend LeBron, and shake his hand. I hope the O'Brien trophy is as gold as it has been in my dreams. I hope.
