tonight on the Blazers.

Great 2nd half adjustments by the team and coach.

JJ needed to be pulled three nights ago.
The small lineup needs to play more.

Z shouldn't play more than 5-10 mins vs most of these regular season teams.

I want more Mo, Delonte, Moon, LBJ, and AV. That lineup is the best defensive lineup we can put out there. It is a great offensive and change of pace lineup.

Alternating Shaq and Z for 48 mins will not get the team the stops it needs.

It's dissappointing that we haven't tried the small lineup more with Moon around. Instead of wasting time with the Shaq/Z combo for entire first 2 weeks of the season we would have been much better getting more time with the Lebron at PF lineup.

It was great to see for stretches in the 4th.
The defense is awful to start games with Hickson and Shaq.
It gets better when AV enters in for Hickson.
Stays ok when Z enters in for Shaq.

Teams adjust and pick n roll Z to death. Cavs then go back to Shaq, and they continue to the pick n roll to death with him. Hickson re-enters, they explode.

They should really start the 2nd with Shaq back on the floor with Mo, AV, West, and Moon.
Z can finish the 1st. Then based on the match-up go smaller with Z coming in for Shaq and LBJ for AV to finish up the 2nd.

I think it's something they'll play around with during the regular season. But I don't expect to see it for long minutes, not until the playoffs anyway. There's no reason to have LeBron take more of a pounding than he has to during the regular season.

They need to get comfortable with it. LBJ needs to learn how to go to the post in that lineup.

The team can throw different combinations of offense based on the lineup.
Getting away from LeIso with the small lineup is spreading the floor and working with LBJ in the elbow or corner post.

Back from the game, and here's a few observations and notes:

(1) The Q was pretty pathetic that opening half in my opinion. Until the Cavs actually came out with some intensity in the 3rd did the crowd actually get into the game. Fans know the expectations and talent level, and their somber reaction for that first half was a message on that sad display. Get the hint Cavs?

(2) Speaking of, great to see that full court press and the defensive pressure turned up. Listening to the Coach Brown comments on the drive home I have to agree 100% that our second half play is our identity and needs to be so for as close to 48 minutes as possible. As discussed plenty of times on the forum, it starts with Lebron, and I was glad he acted like a DPOY candidate to set the tone in the 3rd. Cheers to the home team for making the Blazers play to them, not the other way around (one of my tips to victory in that beautiful original post).

(3) You can't stop Roy or Alridge, but Parker did a nice job and should be applauded (even if the stats aren't there). I was also pleased with the hustle of Andy and Delonte as well. J.J., you hurt me so and my crystal ball says bench warmer real soon if this play continues. I even called the JJ pull after that first fumble, hopefully it sinks in.

(4) Screw that guy behind me chanting "Cha-lu-pa" after the first two Cavs points. You deserve your ticket to be revoked and a swift kick in the sack on the way to the exit.

(5) Sucks not having access to commentators or RCF when an injury goes down, as it did with Shaq. I hate texting like a fiend trying to get updates from anybody who happens to be watching the game at home. Glad to hear the initial prognosis is it's not serious (fingers crossed).

(7) As stated in my game preview I treated my Step-Dad to the game tonight, he remains undefeated in games attended. Well done.

I was at the game as well. The loudest cheers were when they showed the browns win and played "at last" by eta james and when they showed Cribbs, who was attending the game. Well deserved I thought.

I was at the game and I didn't have too good of a time. Mainly because when I sat down in my seat (my friend took me to the game), there was about 6-8 kids sitting together in my row. The average age I would say was like 10 or 11. They look their shirts off swinging them above their head, and wanted to get their bodies painted. While doing all of this, every time they showed a person on the Q tube regardless of whether it was a female or male, they would say "they're so hot and sexy". I was so creeped out during the game. I felt like I was around a bunch of 7 year old strippers. Also there was this drunk dude walking down the steps and he fell right on my friend and it was hilarious. This dude was so fucking drunk that later during the game a cop came up to our section looking for the guys friends because, he was wandering the Q aimlessly. EVEN LATER, a usher comes up with a white bag, and I'm pretty sure it was the drunk guys belongings, did he die? maybe, not really sure what happened to him.

that is hilarious!!!!!!!:D I was at the game as well. my dad treated to me to seats in section C126 two rows behind Tate. I Think Those are the best seats in the house!
