Game #25 | Lakers @ Cavs | Dec. 6, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
During this 10-game stretch, [Anthony] Davis has averaged 35.2 points, 15.6 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.7 assists while making almost 65.0 percent of his shots. - The Athletic

Best player in the NBA right now, although Giannis, Doncic, and Tatum might have an argument.

It's crazy to think I can sit in my living room on a Tuesday night and watch AD, LeBron, Westbrook, Garland, Mitchell, and Mobley play basketball at the highest level in the world. When I was a kid you didn't get to watch weeknight NBA games unless you bought a ticket.

To be fair, FDR was president when you were a kid.

I think the key is what Wham identified in the intro. The LA guards are very limited defensively. Mitchell and Garland need to dominate. If they do, it should be enough.

Hope their hangovers are gone. You know LA won't be exhausted from too much partying in Cleveland last night.

Lebron is in bed b 9 at this point and the resurgence was he probably hired someone to follow AD to make sure he wasnt out partying anymore, lol

Unironically, Gabriel might be their 5th best guy this season. Its the big 3 + Reaves + Gabe that were positive thru now. Him being out will be to our advantage.

Cedi should start at the 3.
Last ten games, he's part of the best 5-man lineups with 10+ minutes played per game.

Including:
Garland - Mitchell - Cedi - Mobley - Allen (120 offensive rating, 79 defensive rating)

Spacing with the starters is key. Stevens doesn't provide that because defenses don't respect his three point shot and won't rotate to him like they do with Cedi.
Fifth option Cedi shouldn't be too out of control and he can generate some transition points.

Cedi is part of the truly absurd net rating lineups with 10+ minutes of sample size (last 10 games).

-Garland - Okoro - LeVert - Cedi - Mobley. In 19 minutes, 148 offensive rating, 74 defensive rating.

-Garland - Okoro - Cedi - Wade - Allen. In 11 minutes, 183 offensive rating, 65 defensive rating.

First positive lineup Stevens has been with is a 7 minute lineup which also features Cedi.

Lamar with the starters (DG, Mitchell, Mobley, Allen) has been 'okay'/not absurdly bad in 63 minutes played, but it's been a negative (111 offensive rating, 117 defensive rating). Doesn't make sense to start Lamar in place of Wade. I don't think defenses are going to change their strategy with how they guard Stevens any time soon, which makes it tougher on everyone. With that said... The starting unit with Stevens could improve their defense and all of these are limited sample size but... Yeah...

Would rather just start Cedi at the moment.
We did this numbers thing with LeVert, Wade, Stevens, and now Cedi. Y'all gonna have to realize our SF wings are all roleplayers. You're not going to find the magic bullet among them that fixes the problem. Once you give them starter or extended minutes beyond their roles their flaws show up.

Just need to pick one and be consistent with the lineup. Except Okoro. We can all agree 100% to no Okoro.

Unironically, Gabriel might be their 5th best guy this season. Its the big 3 + Reaves + Gabe that were positive thru now. Him being out will be to our advantage.
In his 4th NBA season Gabriel is on his 6th team. He's 9th on the team in minutes per game at 13.6. At 6'9" he fills a need for length that is in short supply.

He is hitting 59% so he's making a contribution. He's shooting 77% at the rim but has no outside shot. They've been 2.7 points better when he's on the floor.

Hallelujah!

From the article:

In 17 games this season, Allen is averaging 13.5 points and 10.8 rebounds. The Cavs are 3-4 without him in the lineup.
