The Cavs completely dominated the Lakers bigs and that was basically the game. It put a ton of pressure on Kobe to create for himself and Parker and Moon hounded him all day. They established a physical tone early and maintained it throughout. I think that is one of the things that makes Boston great and made Detroit great a few years ago. They got in your shirt all night and establish that as their norm on the defensive end. The refs can't call everything a foul when you play like that constantly, so you start getting some more leeway from the officials.
If Mo Williams hits his jumpers, we are pretty much unstoppable. He was arguably the best player on the court today and the Cavs dominated. If you could guarantee his jumper wouldn't abandon him in the playoffs like it did last year, the Cavs could probably get away with making no moves. But that is certainly not a gamble I think they should take given the opportunities that should present themselves.
The versatility of this squad is impressive. They smashed PHX by going small and dismantled them at their own game. The Cavs went huge to match up with the Lakers and picked them apart at their own game. That's a luxury not previously afforded to the club because of some personnel holes that existed.
A big time statement from the team the last 3 games of this trip, especially tonight. I thought this trip was going to end very badly after Dallas, but will be the first to admit I was way off base.
Thanks for the Christmas present guys. Very enjoyable show.
