Game 39 | Cavaliers vs. Warriors | January 18th, 2016 @ 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We are all overreacting, it's what happens in sports. Especially right after an embarrassing loss.

My biggest concern is the really odd inconsistencies. We went a week or so where the offense was just insane. Scoring 120 a couple times. Then we go in these spots where we can't score at all. I think we all agree it is mostly due to ball movement. Question is, why I'm earth with a team with this much talent would the ball NOT move? Also weird is that usually early in a game you know what team showed up, the sharing one or the one that plays mostly 1 or 1 or 1 pass and shoot.

I don't understand how they can be such a different team all the time. Doesn't make sense.
Warriors brought their A game tonight. Scoring against non-championship teams is a different matter from a confident, championship team playing their best. GS had the top defense last year. No need to over react. Learn, get better, hit your shots, next time play better D. Cleveland played right into GS hands with all the aggressive Curry double teams. That is what he likes. He gets his anyway, and the open looks for his mates get them going. The fans suggesting getting tougher and shoving him around are idiots. Every team in the league is trying that and he leads the league in scoring anyway, playing 3/4 a lot of nights. It just makes him more angry and focused. Rewatch the first Q and the LBJ shove. What happened immediately after?

To beat Curry you play tough, honest 1-1 D. No easy fouls doing stupid tough guy stuff. He is not intimidated one bit and craves the easy FTs. The doubles showed Curry way too much open court to let Green play 4-3 as point forward. Clev needs to play GS just like any other team with good shooters. They over reacted. GS hits their shots, and you just gotta tip your hat and wait for the next game.

I didn't say anything about curry in my post. Im not at all worried about how GS plays and played tonight. Think the cavs need to focus on themselves here

Fuck. This shit hurts. No one even tried to compete. I would say this is just another game but its mentally not. Granted a loss in January isn't as important as a loss in June but a statement should have been made and one was made on the opposite end. I am not saying all is lost but for fuck's sake, wake up!

I agree with you. I think they didn't play their usually excellent game, but rather game planned too much for GS. It got them out of rhythm. I expect a very different Cleveland team, with a season of getting ready behind them in the finals.

That's common sense. But the trapping style of defense we played that far away from the hoop is a recipe for disaster. Just saying, Blatt gets plenty of blame for how this game went as well.

Steph LIT up the 1/5 PnR in that 1st quarter. Mozzy and even TT were unable to deal with PnRs 25 ft+ from the basket.

Which is why Steph is the juggernaut he is. If you think it is easy to deal with the high Dray/Steph PnR please enlighten us on how to do it. In sure 29 NBA coaches would love to know.

You either blitz the pick and you give Dray a 4 on 3, or you give Steph a 3 coming downhill off the pick. Feel free to explain any other options and I'll show you why they don't work.

There are a lot of us out there that are fascinated by the conundrum he puts defenses in. The Lowe Post has talked about this for YEARS.

The only thing I can think of is you guard Steph with someone bigger who can then switch onto Draymond and not get killed. Maybe LeBron, and have Shumpert or Smith defend Barnes. See how that works. Make them play some 1on1 ball by giving them mismatches? It probably won't work but it's something to try. Let Steph see if he can take LeBron off the bounce and let Draymond see if he can play with his back to the basket against a smaller man.

Or even put Shumpert on Steph and then switch and see what Draymond can do with a mismatch on Shumpert. It's gotta be better than just letting him be free with the ball in the middle of the court.

EDIT: I'm sitting here thinking of how great it would be to have another big wing on this team. Iguodala would just be the ideal person for this problem. Have him and LBJ play Steph and Draymond and switch that screen. A player LIKE that would be perfect. Tony Allen, if he becomes available, might be a player to look at.

DOUBLE EDIT: Draymond Green is so infuriatingly good. Better than he should be. He's so effective at what he does because he plays so hard and he does the fundamental things. Do you know how much better our offense (or anyone's) would look if they just focused on setting good, solid screens like Green, and then focused on actually turning and rolling towards the basket with bad intentions? Love would benefit so much from just setting better screens. But we're enough into his career at this point that I don't think he's gonna start doing it at this point.

I hope that shove by Lebron on Curry doesnt impact their upcoming play as team-mates in the Rio olympics.

It is part of the game. The problem is the refs let GS get away with this shit and not the Cavs.

All this and you don't even understand the problem. The problem is that there are no 5s that can deal with the PnRs. You need two guys who can defend both of them. And no such players exist. And certainly not two on any team. LBJ is probably the closest, and maybe him on Dray is your best option. But it's still not a great one.

You don't need a five to play against Draymond Green at center. Moreover, that 3rd quarter where they ran that play to death was done with Bogut or Ezeli in the game, meaning Green was playing the 4 that whole time.

And by the way I understand the problem exactly. I said that switch the thing and let a smaller guy guard Green. Make them play 1on1 ball through Green with a mismatch and see how effective they are playing that way. I get the problem.

His side-eye and subtle resigned smirk/1000 yard stare/look at his feet at 2:29 or so after mentioning lebron... maybe Im reading too much into it, but there seems to be something not right there. Like he's tired of something, and doesnt want to react.

Yea the whole that starts with the leader bit.

Seems like k love didn't want to answer the questions cause the real answers are not meant for the media but rather an issue do deal with in house.

Like when dion punched Kyrie

I think kevs alpha is starting to kick in and he isnt Big on LeBron leadership/dictatorship of the team

Lebron needs more help. The team may be stacked enough to lead the east, but the west is a different ball game.
