All You Need To Know

*Andris Biedrins is hurt... which means they are the only team in the NBA with less size than the Cavs. Turiaf is the only veteran big, and Nellie uses him like Varejao as an energy guy off the bench. The kids, well, they are learning how to fight in the trenches and making plenty of errors along the way. They might just sign this guy for poops and plunder:

...Hell, RCF's Mac might even be available this Friday for PF minutes, who knows? (psssst, Pip... you know you like Zhi Zhi from out of nowhere!)

*My other favorite NBA team has been practically unwatchable. Wednesday, they ran the offense through Ronny Turiaf.

*Ellis is the closest they have to a real distributor. Nellie was just quoted on his radio show as reluctantly pinning down about 20-25 minutes for Monta on Friday, depending on his conditioning and "how he (Monta) feels". Monta can use a pick to get into the paint, which absolutely no one else on the team can do. The Warriors will surround him with shooters to give him more space to create in those 20-25 minutes. Nellie said he is surprised Monta has the kind of speed he has displaid in practice (two severed tendons in an ankle is pretty damn severe) but he isn't all the way back yet.

*Nellie has been playing a handful of players insane minutes. The drawback has been the energy level on the court. Stephen Jackson, Jamaal Crawford, and Corey Maggette can attack the defense in a fast break at 20-25 minutes a game, but when they are tired... the playbook is reduced to dribble in place and then launch a long one. I expect some fresh legs and a deeper rotation to lend Monta some running mates in transition.

*I found it very intriguing that Nellie did not want Monta to play in this game... the decision came from above, probably Mullin or ownership. Monta was supposed to be a week away from health, but perhaps Mullin wants to protect his job security after a humiliating loss to the OKC. The weaknesses of Mullin's roster have been painful: plenty of wing scorers who thrive in wing iso plays and launching threes, but very little front line muscle and terrible court vision across the board. Its as if one of those annoying guys who posts on the cleveland.com forum trade after trade based soley on stats were handed a franchise... the parts only make sense together in a video game. Heck, I'm starting to think Mullin posts trade ideas on cleveland.com Cavs forums in his spare time.

*Many believe they have already entered "Lottery Limbo," questioning how low you can go in the standings.

*From Tim Kawakami, on the pending Ellis return:
Will he save the Warriors’ season? No, this thing is too far gone. But I imagine he’ll be fun to watch, he’ll provide some fascinating backcourt combinations with Jamal Crawford, Marco Belinelli, Stephen Jackson and C.J. Watson…

There will be more hope. There will be some good games at Oracle Arena, which will be 96% filled, as usual.

There will be some excitement with Monta back, but this Warrior team just can't beat the Cavs without size up front... Anthony Randolph suffers from Tall-Lanky-Bone-ism, but he doesn't have the meat on his bones to deal with a Ben Wallace or Anderson Varejao. I'm predicting a win, and Nellie will start drinking his scotch by halftime.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the (almost) recyclable game thread! Didn't you do the last game thread? Didn't you also do the last Cavs/ Warriors outing too? Just kidding, thanks for getting this up Randolph, reps to anyone putting these together for that matter.

I'd like to call this game a "gimme" but with the way the Warriors play it might be hard to not to label this an easy win. Here's what I DO know though. We put in some defense, we win. The Warriors start chucking, we win. We control the tempo, we win. Sasha and Wally continue their strong play, we win. Hey, now I'm feeling very confident.

A win is nice, a chance for our starters to rest going into Utah will be better. Let's end this game in the 3rd and prep for a real contender the following day.

As I said in the preview: my grades for the semester are due, and I agreed in August to do both of these games since I know the sh!t out of West Coast teams. Time to buy a calandar, perhaps? I promise to add great stuff to the breakdown tomorrow... but its late and I'm burnt for the evening. Check back.

This game has a lebron-goes-jumpshot-crazy feel to it, which worries me. His shot selection was poor last night, but luckily he hit a few.

Need to get back to our offense, move the ball get lebron in the post a little, to have a nice comfortable win without wearing the team down

I want to know what the two mutants look like that had sex and created Brandan Wright ???Someone willingly f*cked or raped Howard-the-Duck....

Golden State gave up 122 points at home to Oklahoma City, losing by one on a buzzer beater on Wednesday night. As the long as the Cavs take the game seriously and don't get sucked into a run-and-gun tempo, I like their chances.

Just repeat vs. GSW: "It's okay not to take the first open shot because an even better one will emerge."

Yeah these cats just lost to Oklahoma ****ing City, I think we'll be OK.

We need this win, as the second night of a back to back in utah will be tough. Splitting the west coast trip would be nice, whic a win tongiht gurentees, ofcourse winning 3 of 4 would be even nicer, especially considering we are without our 3rd and 4th leading scorers.

It would be nice to be able to get back to our offense, but we need Z in the lineup to do that. Until then we will be fighting with anything we can get our hands on in a junked-up offense (think of the fight scene in 'Anchorman' when Brick kills someone with a trident). Thankfully we are playing the Warriors - still dangerous, but VERY beatable. In my best Reghi voice, "You can book this one in the win column for your Cavaliers."

They dont play defense. We play defense. End of story cavs win?

Seems pretty much that simple. This is a game that our role players could have a chance to reallly get loose in and that is one hell of a plus when you are on the road. I expect an Andy Wig Night type of performance from my man Varejao. Lebron should have no problem getting into the paint either. This should be a return to the highlight reel for James after getting his mid range game on against the Blazers.

Boston plays defense too, and this team won....

The key here is to try your best to control the pace, because this team is running, running, running... If the Cavs (*cough*LeBron*cough*) get baited into taking a bunch of ill-advised jumpers, we could be in some trouble...

Well thats true but Boston sucks. :chuckles:

But no seriously I agree. You never wanna take any NBA team lightly or they will sraight run your ass right out of their building. (Pun intended) These Warriors are a run and gun type of team that we could easily loose to. Our main goal is to defend and contest every shot and get back on defense quickly before they run right by.

They dont have anybody that can guard LeBron 1 on 1 but then again nobody else really does either. Therefore I see them double teaming LeBron alot which means there should be somebody wide open to knock the shot down. I see LeBron having a triple double with close to the assist mark he had last night.

I can also see Mo scoring at least 25 again too.
