LeBron James appears healthy, and the Cleveland Cavaliers hope Antawn Jamison is as well.

Still, a thumb injury sustained against the Boston Celtics last month leaves Shaquille O'Neal a long way from joining his teammates.

In the division leaders' first matchup since O'Neal was lost for perhaps the rest of the regular season, James hopes to be playing alongside Jamison as the Cavaliers host the Celtics on Sunday.

With the regular season winding down, league-leading Cleveland (51-15) wanted to be extra cautious with James and his injured right ankle. After a six-day layoff and two-game absence, James returned for the Cavaliers' 100-95 victory over Philadelphia on Friday night.

He had 23 points and 10 assists, but shot 7 for 18 and admitted to being a little rusty.

"I felt a little off rhythm," James said. "My wind was a little off, but it felt great to get back on the court with the guys."

But the league's leading scorer (29.9 ppg) appeared to be well in sync. Among his highlights were a crossover dribble for a step-back 3-pointer and a monstrous reverse dunk off an alley-oop pass.

James is averaging 37.0 points and 8.5 assists while going 7 for 15 from 3-point range in two games versus the Celtics (41-23) this season.

Cleveland had won 11 straight at home against Boston - including three playoff games in 2008 - before losing 95-89 on Oct. 27. The Cavaliers evened the season series with a 108-88 victory at Boston on Feb. 25.

That win was costly, as O'Neal injured his right thumb when Boston's Glen Davis whacked his hand while trying to block a shot. The 15-time All-Star required surgery and isn't likely to return until the playoffs.

Jamison, meanwhile, is expected back after missing a game due to a cyst behind his left knee. The veteran forward was limited to nine points in the last matchup with the Celtics, but is averaging 17.0 in 10 games since being acquired from Washington on Feb. 17.

Jamison will likely be matched up with a rested Kevin Garnett.

Garnett wasn't needed much Friday, finishing with nine points and six rebounds before joining the rest of Boston's starters on the bench in the fourth quarter of a 122-103 win over Indiana.

It was the Celtics' first win in three games. They lost to Milwaukee by two points Tuesday, then got blown out by 20 versus Memphis the following evening.

"We really had a heart-to-heart," Boston captain Paul Pierce said of a meeting the team had early at the morning practice Friday. "We just hope it carries into the rest of the season."

After averaging 87.0 points in three games, the Celtics decided to have the chat.

"Doc did the majority of the talking, but he opened the floor for everybody to give two cents. We just talked freely," Garnett said. "The best thing about this team since I've been here is we've been able to talk to each other."

Boston had played six games in 11 nights and is 18-18 since beating Orlando on Christmas Day.

Rajon Rondo finished with 16 points and 11 assists in 28 minutes against the Pacers. He has 618 assists, and leads the Eastern Conference with 9.8 per game.

Rondo needs 98 more to pass Bob Cousy for the best single-season total in franchise history.

Finally, its time for everyone's favorite part!

BTW Ty- Sweet preview + Sweet ass = GREAT Thread!
Me: "What's that honey? Oh, just checking the game preview for tomorrow..." (SCHWING!!)

Honestly, I hope Mike Brown isn't even sly about. Put DBlock in, have him put Big Baby on his ass, then take him out for the rest of the game....

Excellent preview Typhoon!

The game is going to come down to our guard play, simple as that. Mo needs to bring the defensive pressure on Rondo and keep him in check. In my opinion none of the other Big 3 are excellent facilitators, they need to play off Rondo to get theirs. I'm hoping that if Rondo starts to torch us (as he's done earlier) that we bring in Delonte immediately to help out. Mo crumpled under the pressure against the Bucks, I'm hoping he answers the call today.

I have no doubt that the C's will try to bully the Cavs from the start, this game is more important for them than us. It'll be up to the home team to bring even more intesity and use the Q crowd to their advantage. Lebron will bring it, as will Delonte no doubt, the rest of the team will have to follow suit.

I'm super-pissed that I'll miss the entire game, but knowing how the Cavs wake up for the big challenges I have a lot of confidence we'll get the W. And please Mike Brown, I'm not a violent man, but will somebody put a little hurting on Big Baby?

It's amazin
You're the reason
Errbody's previews seem to suck this season

Great preview Ty!

I want to see D-Block own Big Baby sooooooooooo badly. When it happens I will need a gif made of it cause I won't be able to watch the game tomorrow per heading back to college =/

Go CAVS:king:

God I am ready to kick some green ass.

Great job as always, Typhoon!

Your NumbersDon't game preview:

Game Preview – Sunday March 14, 2010 – Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have now made it 8 wins in the last 9 ball games, after surviving another tight one. During this stretch of games since the 3 game losing streak, the Cavaliers have held 8 out of 9 opponents, including 6 straight, to 95 points & under. In those games where they’ve held opponents to 95 & under, the Cavaliers have held them to an average of 41.8 points per game in the 2nd half, never allowing more than 50.

The latest survival outing came in Philly, as the Cavaliers were down by 1 going into the final quarter, but pushed ahead to stay with 6:22 to go on a Jamario Moon 3 pointer, even though Philly stayed close through the duration. LeBron James played his 1st game after 6 days of rest, and recorded his 26th double double of the season with 23 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks & just 1 turnover. Mo Williams looked like the Mo we all know & love, as he led the 3 other Cavaliers in double figures with 21 points on 8-13 shooting, including 4-8 from 3 point land. Delonte West & Andy Varejao continue to prove themselves irreplaceable off the bench, as they combined for 29 points (17 for Delonte) on 13-21 shooting, with Andy adding 12 boards (his 10th double double of the season), and Delonte adding 4 assists & 2 steals in the Cavalier win.

Boston, meanwhile, is coming off an easy home win vs. the Pacers, in which none of their starters played over 28 minutes. Boston had a 20 point lead at the intermission, and went on to a 19 point win. Paul Pierce led 6 players in double figures with 20 points on 7-12 shooting, while Rajon Rondo also went 7-12 for his 16 points & 11 assists. Nate Robinson & (Don’t call me) Big Baby Davis added 15 points apiece off the Celtic bench, with Robinson adding 5 rebounds, 4 assists, & 4 triple hits. Ray Allen went 5-7 for his 13 points, while Kendrick Perkins went 4-6 for his 10 to go with 7 rebounds in the Boston win.

View it in its entirety.
