Game 7 | Cavaliers vs Knicks | November 6, 2009 | 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You weren't the one that won a who knows how lucky trip to "meet" LeBron to not hardly see him for 30 seconds and not get his autograph.

Trust me. Even through that and other things you can't possibly say that the man hasn't done a TON for Cleveland as a city and Ohio as a state and obviously how much he has done for the Cavaliers.

First off, Im not into hero worship. To be honest, I have a greater appreciation for the Cavs of Mark Price's era. I thought in a lot of ways they were a better team than this one. Of course, we had no one like LeBron who could take over a game like he was doing last year and tonight in the first half. So no, I wasn't waiting for an autograph.

What exactly has he done for Cleveland? He is a great player....I love to watch him play and he has done a ton for the Cavs, no doubt. But for Cleveland, nada, especially on nights like tonight. "Why the hell would LeBron want to stay in a podunk town like Cleveland when he can have NY?" He could put that BS to rest.

1. Imagine this depressed city without someone like Bron. YOu think the Q would be sold out? No. You think the business around downtown during home games (and away games) would be as booming? No and No.
2. He's not wired like that. Has Wade said he wants to stay in Miami? No. Melo in Denver? No. Bosh in Toronto? No. It's a chess game. You don't make a move when you don't have to. It's smart business.

YEs, he's attention whore, but so what. Does it annoy me? Yes, but I get over it quickly.

On the lineup issue vs. Orlando from Windhorst's blog:

Brown wasn't thrilled with J.J. Hickson's play (no rebounds, two turnovers with six points in 13 minutes) but he did like the lineup switch. It helps the Cavs have some more athelticism in the game with Shaq O'Neal (read: not Zydrunas Ilgauskas) and helps chemistry on the second unit. Ilgauskas and Anderson Varejao combined for 17 points and 25 rebounds mostly playing together tonight, though some of that was playing the Knicks, who don't have good big men. One thing it seems to do is increase Varejao's minutes, which isn't a bad thing considering he has been the team's second most consistent player so far. Anyway, Brown said he plans to keep this lineup and rotation for awhile. The next two games are a huge test, at Orlando and at Miami.

Well I'm not fucking thrilled with fucking Mike Brown. JJ played good tonight. Maybe, just maybe, he'll play better in the upcoming games with a few more minutes.

EDIT - no rebounds? I could have swore he got an offensive rebound tonight.

You make a good point about the Q and businesses. Who knows what would be now if he never played in Cleveland.

Those guys you mention aren't asked that quesition over and over. I'm not even asking him to commit, but I would ask that he respect the team, fans, and city by not playing it up. All he had to do was say no comment, I'm playing to win a championship this year...no pregame press conferences, vauge references, etc. When he does that, in my opinion, he is putting his self interest above the team.

I generally get over it, tonight though, I'm pretty tired of it.

In my spare time I do charity work in Cleveland. Lebron has donated time, memorabilia, and more money in an evening then anyone on this board will earn in a lifetime, just to the charity I help with. I have talked with him about basketball and small talk. He is a nice man, he is respectful, and in fact brought his mom and girl friend to the banquet. He bought 5 dinners for himself at the banquet because he was still hungry, and they were $2000 a plate, he paid cash, it was nothing to him but extra money in his wallet.

With this said, he is an attention whore as far as the media goes, and he feeds off there attention, this can't be argued. However, I have seen the faces of the dozens of cancer ridden children he bought wigs for as they cried and felt like kids again. He wasn't an attention whore at these events, no photo-ops except instant cameras and happy children. He has given millions of dollars to local charities and changed many lives and he doesn't talk about that to the media, because it's unimportant to him to receive credit for these actions.

When the cameras are on he plays a role he knows will increase his image and his wallet, try not to judge someone based on there public persona that gets them money without looking at there off court and off camera reality.

Exactly. I look at him as great movie actors, we never complain about Antony Hopkins acting as Hannibal Lecter, I mean that character was morbid and all, but brilliantly performed by Hopkins. Roles like that got him money and fame. I think it's quite the same on any level of entertainment business, you have to perform great whenever public sees you. It might be disturbing to some (a lot) of Cavs fans, but at least he does not market himself by getting arrested, abusing drugs, girls whatever. He is just like most of us, trying to size the opportunity and earn money.

This was the worst night for us cavs fans (as far as playing up to the media shit).Be thankful, like I am, that the courting of NYC is over until this summer. Also, a lot of these players do a ton of charity work without wanting their names mentioned. I know quite a few athletes (iverson comes to mind) who donate boatloads of money and actually don't want their names in the press.

Again, I agree with your general statement, that it's beyond annoying and childish, but them's the breaks when you have a guy like Bron. I'll take the good with the bad

I liked the game. But I was getting angry when we started to blow the 23 point lead.
