He had two turnovers in that late game sequence because he was dribbling out of control
Guys, we want to lose games like this. This was perfect. You will all be happy in April, believe me.
Yea, everyone saying "give Sexton the ball" are kinda forgetting Sexton was coughing it up late. He didn't look like he wanted the ball.
You still got to go with who can score. We are talking about over 8 minutes without anyone else scoring to end the game.
I personally would have like Beilein to keep Garland in and run a play to try to get Sexton an open shot. I think they had four guys around Sexton on at least one of those turnovers.
I'm not sure what the solution is when you only have one guy able to score and everyone else is putting up air balls.
He needs more poise man. He plays way too wild for us to be relying on him late in games. How man times is he going to go straight at 7 footers? He did it 3 times tonight against Embiid. He did it 4 times against KP and Dallas. He did it 3 times against Robert Williams and Daniel Theis against BOS. He's feeling himself a little too much going into the paint.
If trying to win the game was goal 1 (which maybe it shouldn't be) then I dunno how they could justify putting Garland in over Clarkson when you need a bucket.
There's nothing about Garland right now that screams "Put The Ball In My Hands" in late game situations.
I agree he needs to grow but he still was the only person able to score. Not much of an option for the coaching staff. They decided to go away from him in the last 1:50 and it wasn't like anyone got off a good shot.
