Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #27 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Toronto Raptors | Dec 16th, 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Henson 6 assists! Let him run the offense

32 assists - is that a season high? Our starting guards have almost 10 combined!

And only 10 turnovers and still getting blown out lolol. We're so bad even when we play well we still aren't close.

Siakim is just murdering us, he's doing whatever he wants and his decision making has been outstanding in this game.

lol Sexton cant believe his luck, Lowry gifting him free throws for wanting to come out

May the draft balls be with us. James Wiseman.

Is it not a problem when opponents shoot 58% against us, and make half their 3-pointers?

So the thing is, usually bad young teams with not enough talent and very little wing length/defense look bad against talented teams with championship pedigree.

Is it a problem? Of course it is. Is it really any different than we expected to see this year?

We’ve got a blend of under 20 year olds, misfits, has beens and never where’s.

This is exactly what we should look like against a team like Toronto. It’s when we look like this against Chicago, Detroit, New York, and the other bad teams that we should be alarmed.

Tonight I’ll take the positives of a high assist number, good performances by all the young ones, and continued learning on the fly minutes for Garland and KPJ

You guys wanna take a look at what the opposing guards have been doing to us lately?

It's....so incredible. Literally all of them, from the great players (harden) to the role players (powell) are TORCHING our backcourt. Every night.

Ben Simmons: 12-14 for 34 points

Kemba Walker: 8-13 for 23 points

Jaylen Brown- 9-15 for 20 points

James Harden: 20-34 for 54 points

Russell Westbrook: 9-20 for 23 points

Derrick White: 7-9 for 17 points

But hey, did ok on Forbes and DeRozan

Khris Middleton: 8-12 for 24 points

Divencenzo: 6-8 for 15 points

And then tonight.

Kyle Lowry 6-13 for 20 points

Norman Powell 11-15 for 26 points.

Our transition defense remains non-existent. Even when we get back the other teams just shoot over us.

Move Clarkson into the starting line-up and go from there.

More three point shooting. Garland gets to run the show. A little more size in the back court.

Still - Toronto loses one of the best players in the game to FA, and they are still a playoff team. WE lose one of the best players in the game, and we look like a junior high team. Why?

Because they still have a bunch of good players. They won 58 games the season before Kawhi got there man. We won like 33 before LeBron got here.

They're also notorious for NOT drafting really small guards....just fwiw. Perhaps a philosophy the Cavs need to think about. Length matters in the NBA.

In fact they go out of their way to draft length. Even if it busts, like Bruno Cabaculo.

Not enough to make a difference. Start Porter at the 2.

I think it's time to change the "just throw in young guys" approach and actually try and build a rotation that makes some sense. You put Porter in there with Thompson and you lack the required spacing to succeed in the modern NBA, just making the game tougher on Garland.

If you're gonna start KPJ, then bring in Nance for Thompson. Porter+Thompson is too much to overcome imo. Developing Garland should be priority one.
