What?

Look man, you wanted them to give Okoro the ball. They gave him the ball and he's coughedd it up this 4th quarter over and over.

I have no idea what Dion Waiters and brooms has to do with anything. But the kid can't fucking dribble the basketball and it's something he's gonna have to improve on before the coach just gives him the ball in games.

Do you see them running sets to get Jarrett Allen 3 point shots? No. Because that's not what he's good at.
Dude chill,

take a break from the keyboard if your getting that heated.

It was a reference to dion waiters and his stupid videos in 2013 working on his 3 ball against a broom with his trainer. It was a joke to your point that just getting in the gym and working on things in an empty gym will help his development more than doing it at NBA speed and with a defender that isnt his teammate.

the point is that never running PnRs in game is not going to help his development, same way just standing in the corner and doing nothing isn’t either.

sexton couldn’t pass out of a PnR in his rookie year to save his life and still struggles but we didn’t stop having him run PnRs in game because he needed to do it at game speed.

No need to waste anymore posts over this since they won.

Again man, this is what basketball practice is for.

It's not that he's not used to running PnRs. It's that he literally can't dribble the ball for any length of time when under pressure. His entire handle has to see some serious improvement and i don't see how he's going to improve that in the middle of a game. That's like trying to improve your shot in the middle of the game if you can't shoot.

Those are things you work on outside of the game time situation and then prove you have worked on them in the game.

I’m a huge Okoro fan and tonight was another night we saw glimpses of what he can do, but that handle is criminally loose. The good news is he’s very young so he can get better but he has a long way to go.

sexton has evolved from "ball hog chucker", to, "we're running out of shot clock and we're about to waste this possession please make a bucket " type of player. a role only reserved for the clutchest of players.
He’s fearless and that’s critical to taking and making big shots late.

And i love the fact they look for other options first, then just give it up to sexton if the defense isn't giving the team anything. Time and again the raptors played great D, only for sexton to save the possession in the last seconds.

I think that's one of the reasons he seems to take too many long 2-point shots - they go to him for bailout shots when the clock is expiring.

I thought all of the starters were good tonight.

ALlen was very good. Sexton was great. Okoro had a tough stretch but I htought his floor game was excellent. Really hounding on defense.

Wade came off the bench provided a spark. McGee did what he normally does and what i assume some contender out there wants.

Need to find a guard to handle the ball some off the bench. Need some type of wing off the bench who can make a shot and to get Cedi out of the rotation.
Can we banish Cedi to Drummond Island?

6 turnovers each for Okoro, Sexton, and Garland. WOOF.

Seriously - back-up 2 guard seems like the right position for Okoro. Not sure what he did to earn more than that...

Really nice win - everybody contributed. I think the key was 3-point shooting - the Cavs were an amazing 17-for-33 while the Raptors, a much better 3-point team, were 15-for-46. They missed a lot of uncontested 3's. The 29th ranked 3-point team outshot the 9th ranked team.

The Cavs also dominated the glass, 54-37 against the smaller Raptors. The Raptors had no choice but to play super aggressive defense and gamble, especially when they fell behind by 22 early in the 4th quarter. It caught the Cavs off guard and they went over four minutes without scoring, allowing the Raps to cut the lead to 5 points. But the Cavs pulled it together and closed out the win when it would have been easy for the younger team to choke under the pressure the Raptors dialed up.

The Cavs can feel really great about stopping the Raptors surge and pulling away at the end, despite a spate of turnovers. Usually they would have no chance of beating a decent team when they turn the ball over 26 times, but they shot and defended well enough to pull it out. I also think Toronto just had a bad shooting night, but hey, we'll take it.

Sexton had another terrific game with 36 points on 13-for-24 and four assists. The only blemish was the six turnovers. Allen had 17 points and 15 rebounds. He came up strong in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line and knocked down some big free throws. Dean Wade was magnificent off the bench with 16 points in 18 minutes. Cedi kicked in six rebounds and six assists. He's developing into an excellent passer, but he still can't shoot.

How about Okoro with 7 rebounds and 5 assists? He usually gets one or two of each, if that. He also had a couple of steals and knocked down two big threes to push the Cavs lead in the 4th. But those six turnovers won't cut it. He still needs to improve his handles.

The Cavs shot 50.6% overall and had an excellent offensive performance except for all those turnovers. However, the Raptors are 5th in steal percentage so the Cavs should have been prepared for a high intensity, gambling defense, especially when the Raps got behind and had no choice but to gamble for steals on every possession.

Five games in seven days. One down, four to go. We get the Kings tomorrow.

By the way, the Hawks have won eight in a row since changing coaches. I don't feel so bad about losing to them last week now.

Toronto forces the most turnovers in the NBA and our kids still have a lot to learn. Meanwhile we won by a convincing margin.

Third straight game of 50+ from Sexton/Garland. That's a winning formula as long as a few others chip in.

It was nice to see a few of them fire up and get stuck into the raptors players. Sometimes I feel they sleepwalk out there and wonder if they actually care or even have much fight in them

26 from the 4 too. 23 from the 5. Balance is the key and not all the scoring from the guards.
Great point - it was similar to the win over Boston when Nance and Okoro combined for 33 points. We won't win if Sexton and Garland combine for 55 and everybody else gets 35.
