Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #16 | Cavs @ Nets | Nov. 17, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
While I agree anything could happen in the NBA; Darius Garland "going off" isnt one of them. He has had only 1 30 point game in his career. If he breaks 20; ill be happy.
And he’s so efficient. Which is why it’s frustrating. I’d take 12/27 from the field on a night like tonight but it seems like volume just isn’t part of his game yet.

You never know what can happen in an NBA game. DG could go off. Love could get 18 and 10. The Nets could be sluggish.

Who am I kidding though? I'm going to the game tonight so I need to have some hope. You know it's bad when I really with Lamar Stevens was even available.

My defensive worries are stronger than my offensive fears. We have Rubio, Garland. Dean Wade is capable of hitting shots. Cedi. I could go on.

But we are soft as hell on D without Allen and Mobley. And effort only goes so far.
Dean Wade is capable of hitting shots? He's barely even willing to shoot which puts a ton of pressure on the guards.

DWade (lol) might be the least aggressive player on the team. He's a capable 3 pt threat, yet usually defers to the next option. Dude needs to let it fly...

Ricky and KLove gonna feel like they are in Minnesota again these next couple of weeks. Putting up numbers while they get smoked on the court. Even when Allen and Lauri come back I feel like Mobley is such a big part of the teams defensive success. If the schedule was easier I could see them having some success before Mobley is back. But the next couple weeks is no joke.

this is one where JBB needs to say to him "I know we usually tell you to play d, not screw up, do your job, and not attempt much more - forget all of that tonight. For one week only, we need you to play like you are in the back gym of an AAU tournament."

Wade's 3-point shooting is way off this year; 25% versus 39% last year. That has to change if he's going to get any minutes at all.

Last year he was in the 99th percentile among forwards in short mid-range shots. I'd like to see him take some more of those short jumpers in the lane since his 3-point shot is off.

All the planets lined up for Wade with Love, Markkanen, Allen, and Mobley out, but he is not doing much so far to take advantage of the playing time. He needs to be more aggressive offensively and hope his shot starts falling.

The Nets rank 8th in opponents points per game, although I suspect they're not quite that good because they've played so many bad teams. The Cavs are really short on offense right now with Sexton, Mobley, and Allen out so I could see points being VERY hard to come by. I could see the Cavs ending up with about 80 points.

However, they got 92 against Boston without Sexton, Marky, and Love and with Mobley scoring one point.

This is an opportunity for guys like Wade, Okoro, Valentine, and Windler to show they can contribute offensively. Rubio, Garland, and Cedi can't do it all.

Might be the first game I don’t watch this year. Don’t see how we can keep it even remotely close with so little scoring threats out there.

The Cavs will have to get up and down the floor at max velo and take some open 3's in transition. Guys like Griffin, Durant, and Aldridge don't get from foul line to foul line as fast as they used to. The Cavs need to force the Nets to miss their 3's, grab the rebound, and beat them down the floor and score in transition.

This is a game that Garland, Rubio, Valentine, Cedi, Windler, Okoro, and Wade can play. It's young against old. The Cavs need to play as fast as possible and not get into a half-court game. Up that tempo.

His lack of aggressiveness annoys me. He can make the shots & distribute at a healthy rate. It's OK for him to be selfish.

I'm having nightmare about Wade matching up with literally everyone on this roster.

Going into Barclays soon. No lie this is the first NBA game I’ve been to where I’m happy I packed a good book.
