Game Thread | 2021-22 Season | Game #2 | Hornets @ Cavs | Oct. 22, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not a JBB fan at all but Koby's the one who needs to take some responsibility. It took them 2 years to find a backup PG but this Pangos guy as the 3rd PG doesn't look like he belongs in the NBA.

How can Koby go 4 years without even trying to address the problem at the wing. The Hornets' wing players killed us tonight and ATL will do the same thing tomorrow. Cavs can hang for 2-3 quarters but over an entire game those big physical wings are going to eventually win out in today's NBA.

We're getting destroyed by absolute average to below average wings.

Bane and Bridges are probably below average to well below average starting SFs.

But we have the worst collection of "SFs" in the NBA and just spent a bunch of money and didn't address the position at all.

JBB is nothing special or out of the ordinary as a coach so I have no issue if and when they move on from him.

But neither of these losses, nor most of the losses we incur this season have nearly as much to do with poor decisions or coaching on his end as they do with just the realistic state of the roster.

Future centerpiece only two games in to his career with lots to learn(looking promising though) and weight to gain

Literally no NBA quality SF on the team

Lack of size at SG

And then tonight of course missing the three point shooting that Garland/Windler would provide and the playmaking that Garland would provide.

That not an excuse or defense of JBB, like I said, I don’t think he’s anything special

Windler was the only SF Koby brought aboard. Truly fascinating.

He's been drafting since 2018 =(

Go ahead and give me the list we've passed up

Does a top 7 protected pick get it done for Reddish? I can’t watch 80
More games without a competent wing.

Garland has to get on the court and take the big step forward people seem to expect or else this is going to be a really long season. Rubio is fine for what he does but he's not a scorer, he's not a 3-point threat, and he'll get exposed if he's overused.

Windler is a 34% 3pt shooter. What makes you think he would have brought any more firepower from the perimeter? Lauri is both a better shooter and a lot bigger but he doesn't get the ball to any of his spots.

It looks like we're playing street ball out there.

We lost the game at the start of the 4th. What happened?

It'd be real Cavs if Scottie Barnes, the player who best fit the bill to fill our wing problem, turns into an immediate star.

I'm assuming DG will take a big step this season but it's not enough to consistently beat a team like ATL that can throw waves of big wings such as Reddish, Hunter, Jalen Johnson, Huerter, etc.

I think Okoro was the big miss here. If Koby was going to pass on Haliburton he 100% needed to grab a big 6'-8" wing even if it meant drafting Saddiq Bey higher than he was mocked. Phoenix did the same thing drafting Cam Johnson high in that weak 2019 draft.

We started 3 7 footers and brought Love off the bench who got 11 rebds and we still got out rebounded by 10? That cant happen.

Rebounds and turnovers is why we lost.

First half didn’t. Second half and fourth especially the offensive deteriorated/devolved. Part of that was missing Garland.

I’m fine giving Lauri and all the players several weeks to get comfortable with each other before having too strong opinions in either direction,

Losing 2 winnable games with a ton of good mixed with some horrible stretches of bad basketball seems more daunting when you realize the next 5 games looks like this:

Atlanta Hawks
Denver Nuggers
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns

Somebody in NBA scheduling hates the Cavs LMAO.
Looks like 0-7 to me. They are going to get murdered tomorrow.

Our 7 footers don't play like 7 footers...I obviously give Mobley a pass until he spends a year in an NBA training program.
