Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh... you're still hoping Sexton will develop as a primary ball handler/distributor? I didn't know we were restarting this.

I don't believe it's just Garland who's aggressiveness/assertiveness will increase while not having to cover for the mental lapses and score first minded approach that Collin still has, I believe Okoro will as well. I love that Collin is trying to recalculate his approach to be more inclusive to the other players on the floor with him and not just using the other 4 players to get better shots, but I don't believe the kind of feel and understanding of how to do this for the other four players on the floor both offensively and defensively that both Rubio and Garland (while not physically strong enough yet to do it at defensively Rubio's level) possess is something you can develop. I believe you have it or your dont and that it's innate. Nash, CP3, Kidd, Strickland, Mark Jackson... Garland possesses that as a IQ trait in the same way Mobley has a defensive patience and positional spacing awareness that premiere defenders like Rodman & KG had and offensive awareness and passing IQ that bigs like Daugherty, Sabonis, Webber had, and Okoro has a spacing, angles and awareness of how to use his strength and physicality when it comes to guarding smaller perimeter guys that guys like Bowen, Tony Allen, Jrue Holiday, Nate McMillan and Gary Payton had innately.

Collin has a scoring mindset, and he's goddamn good at it and it's innate and should be harnessed so that he plays with it under control but not reprogrammed to be something entirely different from what he naturally is or innately does just like those guys above with their innate skills/abilities.

Whether he was pitted against Garland or some other PG, Collin Sexton would still be at a disadvantage on any team with any roster where he was being asked to do or be something he's not wired to do. Full Stop on that, please adjust your expectations and hopes to accept this Tip. (I mean this sincerely)

Instead, my hope is that Rubio continues mentoring Sexton on how to play a balanced floor game as a SG who does not step on his PG's toes (I'm watching him do this LITERALLY nightly and I love it), and Rubio continues mentoring Garland and schooling him in practice on how best to keep the ball moving and create opportunities for others without pounding the ball and looking for "perfect assist to basket" opportunities.

I don't believe Rubio should impact what we do long term with either Collin or Darius, as that would be very short sighted.

And I also dont believe we're still debating the best course for how to maximize these players innate abilities and skillsets moving forward.

Neither Darius or Collin is the future offensive engine of this team. Mobley is, and you can run the offense through Mobley with Sexton.

I get what your saying, but from what i can see Pangos vs anyone in the NBA is not fun.
I mean it is almost laughable that the same people that love Garland are the one's bashing Pangos.
Not much different at all scoring wise, athleticism wise, court vision wise and head height wise with the only real difference being Garlands ball handling and shimmy

If you honestly cant see the difference then you are either a troll or just not knowledgeable on basketball. Hate Garland all you want, but the same as Pangos? lol

My thoughts exactly. I liked when JBB subbed Okoro in for Sexton fairly early (less than five min into the game IIRC), but didn't care for his decision to sub Rubio in for Garland the very next whistle.

If he really wanted to limit Garland's minutes because of the sprained ankle, then I'd rather he leave Sexton in and make an early sub of Rubio for Garland. Backcourt combinations of Rubio/Sexton and Garland/Okoro make the most sense to me.

Rubio/Okoro doesn't do anything to stretch the floor and likely forces us to pull Allen off the floor in favor of a shooter like Love.
Having enough versatile players at your disposal that you can do your line ups to frustrate the other coach and players expectations and being able to win games as a result of it , is the main reason for the line ups not seeming like the most likely to put out there actually being put out there. One thing for sure is the 3 7'ers is fucking teams up and if LM starts hitting better than 30% from 3 this team is winning a playoff series or at least a play in game this season

I disagree, as one of the biggest advocates for Mobley

He's so talented as a defender with versatility that one day I would love for him to quarterback that end and be the secondary creator/hub for offense but never the primary on the offensive end as that will undoubtedly cost him on the other end.

Think brilliant two way big men like Duncan, Webber and yes even AD on this. The mistake the Pelicans made with AD was not putting the right PG on the floor to take the ball out of his hands and allow him to play game changing impactful D on the other end for all of his game time. He started compromising down there the more he needed to be all and do all for the offense. The one year they did, with Rondo, they were a Cousins injury away from a title run. AD was doing it ALL on the defensive end. That's what we want/need as Unicorn develops.

Dont want that longterm for Unicorn at all.

tell me oh wise one then because there is no difference beyond the ball handling and anyone saying otherwise is the real troll

Congratulations on Garland's shitty performance last night! :chuckle:

I am not a top 5 basketball mind on this forum, you just happen to be bottom 5.

You are the Denzel Valentine of posting. I am the Kevin Love. Kind of old and useless at this point, over paid, but they keep me around because i have been with the team a long time.

Don't waste your keystrokes, Lee

I responded again, but I dont think I wasted keystrokes....i love my comparison of myself as the Kevin Love of this board, yes i do laugh at my own jokes in real life...did you have any doubt?

Bowl of Matzo ball soup incoming! Duck!

I havent had a good bowl of Mish Mosh soup in a couple of decades, that sounds so good right now, lol. And for those that know what it is, more power to you, lol.

I don't believe Sexton can/will ever develop into a floor general type of player. Garland will always be superior to.him in that respect.

But I'm also not sure that is the kind of PG this team necessarily must have moving forward.
