Game Thread | 2022-23 Season | Game #2 | Cavs @ Bulls | Oct. 22, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I may change my over to 52 wins. They kicked the shit out of a team who will be in the playoff mix without Garland. Donovan just controls the game so well its insane. He can get his any way the defense will give it to him, he gets other guys buckets & his communication is great. We were a team likely going to win high 40s last year before injuries. Factor in the handful of games where Garland was just out of gas or we got shut down; then add Mitchell into our team...52 easily.

Robin Lopez - really love his sky Captain Hook shot. He was perfect with 4 of those tonight with 12 points. He contributed on both sides of the floor off the bench which was needed.

Love 5 3s and 2 charges. Don’t know why he didn’t get to play much against Toronto and Atlanta at the playin last season. He makes things happen for this offense especially when we need spacing.

I think this forum is too harsh on Levert. I really like his playmaking, he played good D o and frustrated Derozan, made 3 key catch and shoot 3s. His midrange game will fall. But if he keeps continue to make catch and shoot 3s, he is going to be valuable for us.

Mobley got some nice shots on the offensive end. Would like to get him rebound more but liked some of his contested shots.

Cedi with plus 41 tonight. Him and Love together is a great pairing. As long as Cedi doesn’t do too much, he’s perfect.

You cannot just have Okoro in the corner all the time. It would be best for Okoro to come in late 1st quarter or start from the 2nd quarter and being able to play setting screens, and going back door. I am afraid we are going to lose his mentality and confidence.

Spider is awesome. Utah just could not get the players to get that team to succeed. He is going to be happy here.

Idk, Mobley was on pace for 22-24 and just never had fg attempts after getting to 16 in the 3rd

Most of our players got their points in the flow of the offense. Mobley fumbled a few and would likely have gotten 20+ if he converted. Mitchell is purposely looking for him too. This is the great thing about Mitchell so far. He makes guys him around him better in a way that Kyrie could not.

Wow - didn't see this coming. 128 points without Garland! Incredible.

The Cavs shot an amazing 59.3% on 3's - that's not going to last but we'll take it. Love was 5-for-6 and Mitchell 4-for-6 from deep.

The other impressive number was the 32 assists. I don't know if we ever had 32 assists in a game last year. This is such an unselfish team. They also dominated the glass 40-25.

Yeah, every time the Bulls got some momentum Mitchell would create a bucket and break the mo.

Cedi was a jaw-dropping +41 in 27 minutes. I don't know if I've ever seen a +41 by a Cavs player. Love was a +27 in 23 minutes and Lopez a +19 in 16 minutes. Our bench was fantastic. Neto was a +11 in 15 minutes. Cedi has outplayed Okoro in the first two games. Cedi has 32 points in the first two games; Okoro has 2.

Mitchell was easily the player of the game with a 32/9/8 line and a +19. But the difference was the 3-point shooting; they were 7-for-29 (24%) and we were 16-for-27 (59%). That's a 27-point advantage from deep for the Cavs and they won by 32.

This team has a chance to be really good.

We're already really good. Will we become great?

I agree

Him being able to dribble, pass, shoot a bit and defend makes him very useful when you have two elite offensive engines like Spyda and DG. Kind of like how Iguodala and Draymond make the GS offense so much more deadly by feeding Klay and Steph.

Im fine with LeVert starting at the 3 most nights. Some nights Dean Wade may be a better matchup but you can always rotate them early. Not that Wade will play over Okoro despite having a god damned picture perfect 3 ball form and being way more versatile on both ends.

Every night pushes me clsoer and closer to wanting to just trade Okoro for Jae Crowder. I dont wanna trade Osman or Dean Wade if I dont absolutely have to. Both are on really good contracts and are producing on the floor.

It would be foolish to trade Osman or Wade for a Jae Crowder type. We should be developing Wade and Osman can actually be highly effective against second units

Exactly how it looks to me as well. A lot less pounding of the ball.

I didn’t expect what a good team leader Mitchell is. He just transforms our offense every minute he’s out there. Like having a Ferrari engine in what last season looked like an old used car. He’s constantly moving the ball and breaking down the defense and it’s contagious. He’s even better at that than Garland - Garland is fantastic and could end up better than Mitchell even, but last year he sometimes got trapped and didn’t keep it moving. It will be fascinating to see how they operate together when Garland is back

Garland is quick and herky jerky but gets bothered by length, Mitchell on the other hand is built like a tank. Barnes/Anunoby/Caruso just bounce off of him.
