Game Thread | Game #31 | Mavericks @ Cavs | Dec. 17, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We stole one from Dallas.
The Cavs shooting was so poor that it took another 4th quarter rally to avoid a loss against yet another team kept under 100 in regulation.
When the backcourt isn't providing the cushion, the team suffers badly.
Also was kind of annoying to see a Mavs team give the Cavs such defensive trouble without Luka. They were moving more without the ball it looked like, though Kemba was doing quite a few ISO posessions.

I don't know what it will take to get Diakite a regular contract. I'd rather see him coming in relief of Mobley than Kevin Love at this point. It sounds like a broken record, but when Kevin isn't scoring, this team is in trouble.

Good progress as mentioned above from Darius. So much better when he's not trying to do it all.

I have to say I absolutely HATED that inbounds to Jarrett Allen late in the game. Why is that ball NOT going to Darius or Donovan when you know a shooting foul is coming? Hell, even LeVert? JA is not the guy for that.

My guess on the inbounds play is that JBB felt confident that the ball would actually get to Allen because he is such a large target. Perhaps JBB was concerned about a pass to one of the smaller guys being intercepted or otherwise just not making it there. Maybe the hope was the pass gets to Allen and he can then immediately pass it to someone else.

I'm not saying I agree with the call. Just saying that I don't think it was a coincidence that we inbounded the ball to the largest player on the team.
