Game Thread | Game #4 | Magic @ Cavs | Oct. 26, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly I dont think his lack of finishing has anythign to do with garland. LeVert is being asked to play completely differently, defending, passing, catch and shoot, its something he can do, but hasnt. He is a 3rd or 4th option much of the time.

He is the thing, LeVert instead of bitching about it, is just playing harder than I have ever seen him play on both ends of the ball. He has been the biggest suprise in a good way. He finishing will come along because he didnt forget how to finish or shoot around the rim, its just the last part of his game. And the way he has been playing all around, i am ok with it for sure.
Fair point - I do agree with your statement that Levert is playing at a different role which he hasn’t done much throughout his career. I thought that with Garland coming back, it will allow him to lessen the offense load and free up more space for him. It will give him more easy buckets and more dishing opportunities.

And to your point in bold - totally agree, he is playing really hard - reminds me a little bit when he was at Michigan but probably the best in his career.

LeVert talked about being in the best shape of his life and altering his diet. He realized that being on the same team as Garland, Mitchell, Mobley, Love, and Allen he wouldn't be getting as many shots as he did in Indiana and that this team needs him to play defense and in some cases be a playmaker rather than a scorer.

It's impressive the way he's adapted his game to meet the needs of the team, but when the shot clock is running out he still can put it on the floor, get to the paint or the rim, and get off a good shot.

I think Caris and Cedi have been the most pleasant surprises so far.

These are the kind of games we'd lose last year - a key player is hurt, a couple others are having cold shooting nights, and we're playing an inferior team that we kind of take for granted. We let them stick around for the first half and they gain confidence they can win and suddenly everything they throw up is going in and we can't buy a bucket.

Frequently it also involves somebody coming off their bench who's averaging 6 points a game and scoring 28.

Bickerstaff reamed the Cavs out at halftime for inconsistent effort and told them we aren't letting the 0-4 Magic ruin our home opener. They responded with some tough defense that held the Magic to 42 points in the second half. The offense never really got going, but 49 points was enough and they didn't let things get away in the last couple of minutes like they did against the Wizards.

I'd add Wade and even Mitchell to this list.

Levert as your everyday 5th option & Love as a true 6th is excellent. Caris may be handling the ball, but itll be on the other starters to convert his passes into assists.

We're deep. Give it time. Try not to look too much into the next two against the Celtics. I expect both to be played hard but ultimately come up short with or without Garland.

I can’t even bring myself to participate in game threads right now and you KNOW picking apart JBB in them is one of my favorite hobbies…but some of the Mobley talk that goes on in here is honestly some of the worst shitposting I’ve ever seen on RCF. Do better y’all.

Nah, let's offload him for a couple 2nd's and Jae Crowder :chuckle:

are you fucking kidding me?

seriously, we are allowed to criticize players. You spent every damn game thread last year shit posting about JBB, but god forbid someone say a couple of negative things about Mobely and its "the worst shitposting ive ever seen on RCF". lord in heaven.

Mobley scored a lot yesterday cool story. Good for him. But lets not pretend he doesnt have a LOT to work on.

Love's game has been off, but he is puting in effort.

Cedi has really simplified his game. He finally knows his role and is performing it well. Get out on break and finish, shoot when open, play hard defense. Do not try and create for others, and it has worked.

I think Mitchell and Garland will have a few games of trying to figure out how to play with another ball dominate guard and not lose their game, but that is to be expected.

He's a 20 year old 2nd year player Bob. Of course he has a lot to work on.

It just seems you're pissed off at him for not being a finished product.

He has a lot of steps to take but he apparently gets no time to take them???

I just don't get the complaints right now.

I agree it'll take a bit but god damn I'm excited to see how Garland and Mitchell learn how to move without the ball and work off each other. The amount of looks they'll open up for each other and the rest of the team will be next level.

People get mad if you criticize any of the young guys who are homegrown, but it’s free reign on the coaching and any guys we didn’t draft. Last season so many people would get so mad every time anyone got on Okoro for doing literally nothing out there in his minutes, insisting he just needed time and people were being too hard on him. Since then, he’s only gotten worse.

Mobley’s farrr from an Okoro fortunately. But it’s okay to say this dude needs to rebound better. He needs to show us big second-year improvement. Those are the expectations that come with being pegged by the franchise, the fans, and others around the league as a future superstar and the player the team is building around, like it or not. People saw what Banchero did out there yesterday right? He’s a year and a half younger than Mobley, and most people here would still take Mobley over Banchero right? People here would say Mobley is the best young prospect in the league? So then by that logic it shouldn’t be unfair to hold him to a very high standard.

It’s early obviously but simply put, we need better than 15.5 ppg, less than 5 rpg, less than 2 apg, almost 3 topg, and just 1 bpg from our franchise cornerstone. Last night was a step in the right direction that he can hopefully build on, though I still don’t love how inactive he is on the boards and I’m absolutely not willing to just chalk that up to scheme because I saw him fail to put a body on a guy or not go for the rebound that was there again and again.

He’s closer to 21.5 than he is to 20. Not sure why you keep lying about his age to try to make the criticism seem more unfair. Just make your point with facts.
