A 4 year 60M extension is supposed to be announced tomorrow for Travis Hafner. Too much? Too little? Just right?

Hopefully this will get him back on track.

OMG this makes me so excited. All we have to worry about now is C.C.I think it's a fine contract extension if you ask me.

CC is gone...

No way they can afford to pay the kind of money he will command.. Probably why they did this with Pronk now.. They know they won't be able to get CC done...

Do they go "all in" for this year, or do they move him at the deadline ??? I think you have to keep him and go for it..

It's not the worst thing in the world to get Hafner resigned when he's having a below average year, saves a little coin. CC is long gone though...

Kind of a lot for a guy who didnt make the All-Star game, i would have resigned CC before Hafner.

CC will be in Anaheim/Oakland next year. Book it.

I think this extension issue is part of the reason he didn't...we'll see how he does now that it's done.

As far as CC goes, he wants 5/100M, and I think he'll get it from someone, just not Cleveland.:(

Sabathia is signed through next year. If you're going to deal him you wait until next year's trade deadline. Hafner had to get done first, he would have been an FA at the end of this season. Great move by the Tribe. As Max said, this should get him on track. He wanted to stay here.

Ha, Hafner is a bargain at 4 years/$60M compared to your boy JD Drew. 5 years/$70M... :thisguy: Red Sox

Good news. Hopefully they get CC done too...nows not the time to be cheap.

We can roll the DICE on players because we have the money to do so, if the guy doesnt pan out....oh well. We are still in first, so im not complaining.

All im saying, is id rather bite the bullett and let a power hitter who didnt make the All-Star game go and re-sign a potential Cy Young candidate. If its for the "fans" then so be it, but i doubt you guys want to lose a player like CC.

Of course we don't want to lose CC... but if/when he demands $20M a year I'll be the first one yelling "See ya!" It's not like we don't have young studly pitchers on the way up. Don't get me wrong, I'm a CC fan. But there's a certain point where a guy just isn't worth the money... whether it's Boston, New York, KC, Minnesota, etc., $20M/year for a pitcher just isn't worth it IMO.

I'm fully expecting us to let CC walk unless he gives us a hometown discount. And unfortunately, the next time that happens will be the first.

^Fair enough, I just dont want to see him in a Yankees uniform, so i hope he re-signs with you.

Agreed, I would puke at the sight of that (and the Red Sox too, sorry)
