The Browns will rack up W’s, playoff wins and maybe even a super bowl and no one will remember this, that’s just how it goes in pro sports. People tend to forgive more and more over time.

Not a peep about Big Ben on his farewell tour, just how great of a guy he was and a great leader and face of the Steelers.

If you don’t want to be a fan, feel free to leave, no one cares if you leave… if you want to stay, that’s your choice as well… no one cares. I’m not judging someone on whether they want to support the Browns (Watson) or not. I’m not into bringing other people down or judging others. Not my place.
Big Ben found God so everything is forgiven

I have separated the player from the person some, but I am with you. If he didnt have the issues, this was a huge win, huge upgraded, the money will work itself out with increased revenue, and 3 firsts is what a top 7 QB costs.

But i hate the person, and that is hard for me. I will get over it if we make the playoffs every year and even make a championship run or three, but stil hard for me because he for sure is an asshole.

It definitely robs some fun, for sure.

I'm not the "championship or bust" kind of fan, I just want to enjoy Sundays, make some noise in the playoffs etc. Obviously if we win that's fucking awesome, but the Browns winning the Superbowl has no tangible benefit to my life.

Think of how fun it is to root for Jarrett Allen, and the rest of the Cavs. The opposite can be true as well. It's just simply not as fun to root for a team where the most important player has these sorts of allegations. And I am in this for "fun" not internal moral dilemmas or some championship-or-bust mantra.

So no it's not all about winning.

Hopefully the truth behind the allegations is more towards the creepy scumbag end of the spectrum than the rapist end of the spectrum. And hopefully he and the Browns make some sort of massively significant reparations.

To be honest there's times when I've considered just ending my interest in the NFL altogether. I actually did that during the years when the Browns left for Baltimore. I'd casually watch if a game was on at a bar I was hanging out in but beyond that I didn't watch anything. I might have gone to a super bowl party or 2 where hardly anyone was really watching, just for the party.

I don't watch other teams besides the Browns much. I was never overly concerned by the losing seasons, I just cut back on the intensity I followed the league with. So in the spectrum of NFL fans I'm not exactly a rabid fan. But I do love my Browns.

I never played the "moral superiority" card much with the "Rapistberger", Ray Rice, or whoever. I always thought that was Browns fans lashing back at rivals because we sucked so bad we had no other ammo to talk trash with.

I'm not exactly locked in or married to any particular point of view, and I really don't feel I know everything there is to know about this situation. And any predatory behavior is categorically reprehensible but are all such acts equal, or is there a spectrum with degrees of evil depending on the details? I mean that could be a whole thread and it's a road I wouldn't go down other than to note it exists and would blow up as a conversation. 30 years ago the specific alleged acts would have almost been laughed off, now in the Me too era it's a huge deal and rightfully so. We are evolving towards being better but people like Watson never got the memo. I'm trying to imagine just how stupid and entitled he must have been.

So I honestly don't know how this all shakes out with me, I just live by the moment, the day, the week, the month as they come and form my opinions as things develop. It would be pretty exciting to win a lot of games and go deep in playoffs, maybe even win a super bowl. But I honestly don't know how I'll deal with all that behind Deshaun Watson being the face of the franchise until we get to that point. My gut might just tell me to say fuck the Browns and Watson. Or not. Hard to say right now if Watson is a deal breaker for me. I'll just have to process this as it evolves and see if I end up being a fan or not. I probably don't have much problem walking away if that's what feels right.

Good lord man, take a walk. Lol acting like the Cavs have never employed a questionable person with a checkered past. Yet, here you are. I also question how much you know about Andrew Berry on a personal level, but not going to get into that.

GoOd LoRd MaN tAkE a WaLk.

How are the Cavs coming into this conversation? I just have missed the serial sexual predator that the Cavs employed. In fact the most recent problem child was jettisoned ASAP.

They’ve had some soup throwers but not any dick showers

Never claimed to know Andrew Berry personally. So not sure where that came from or why you’re questioning it? Just saying he said some shitty shitty things in chasing and acquiring DeShaun Watson and I think he’s real shitty for what he said and what he did.

I’m not even saying the Browns shouldn’t have made the trade because I get how the NFL works and in some ways they kinda had to do it or at least try because the holy grail is winning and nothing else matters. I’m just saying they traded for a piece of shit and the guys who got it done acted like pieces of shit throughout the process of making it happen. No more, no less. And I’m also saying it doesn’t even matter because the NFL is toxic that as long as he wins it won’t matter.

I’d argue the NBA is way better on issues like this. but sure, the NBA also has had similar problems in the past and present, though they have taken many steps as a league since to truly police that kinda thing.

Just LOL@ calling Watson a guy with a “checkered past”. A “checkered past” is getting a DUI on a trike while off your mental health meds carrying a shotgun in a guitar case. But that’s still a far cry from serial sexual assault and harassment. From rubbing your genitalia on women you employed for a professional service that didn’t include the genitalia rubbing, and from pressuring double digit numbers of women to touch you inappropriately while providing a service they thought was strictly professionals. I think I’d much rather give the guy off his rocker without his meds a chance to figure it out than the dude who can’t control himself around women to that degree.

Im just throwing some shit out there that I thought some of y’all would like to know. I don’t talk much Browns, though I hear a lot about them…I know a few people. I’m not claiming to be Adam Schefter here. Just know a guy or two. Then again I understand what I have to offer informstoonally is something that some people want to know and and something that some people wish wasn’t happening because they’re more than happy to just focus on the football. And that’s cool, you do you. I have a different opinion that I based on a little extra personal knowledge but it’s nothing shocking and it’s nothing that couldn’t easy be surmised if you think about the situation critically.

Are there actually women that massage mens groin areas? I though I read in one of the articles that Watson would once or twice a week get deep tissue massages, including his thigh and groin area. I know if i was a woman I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that unless I was expecting more…

I brought up the Cavs because you ended your post with “go Cavs” after calling the Browns and everyone in their organization disgusting multiple times. You may not know Berry personally but you’re wording makes it sound like you do. Mentioning he said shitty things like you were in the room with him or something. Your post was just a tad over the top, that’s all I’m saying.

Appreciate the info and perspective.

I know lots of towns of any size in Canada have what they call "rub and tug" massage businesses, pretty much in the open and known to all. I used to work for a Canadian company and visited on business from time to time. They were hard drinkers, and after the bar closed it wasn't unusual for somebody to say they were going for a pack of smokes and a stop at the rub and tug. Like, you wanna go bowling or go to the rub and tug? Pretty normalized. FTR I never went. So...

In one of the articles posted in this thread, an anonymous NFL player said getting soft tissue work done on the hamstrings, glutes, and groin regions often is a necessity.

Just posting a direct quote that was relayed to me from someone who I am confident would be able to know about and/or be present for said direct quote.

And i didn’t call everyone in their organization disgusting, I called specific people disgusting, the process disgusting, the NFL culture disgusting…but there’s a lot of good people that work for and play for the Browns still and honestly they don’t deserve this shit stain on their reputation but then again it won’t matter if he wins which is the point I was really trying to make more than anything, not necessarily one that I agree with but it’s the truth. If Watson wins none of the bad stuff that is attached to this will get enough light of day going forward to matter or many any difference and that was Andrew Berry and Jimmy Haslams ultimate calculation.

And I stand by #GOCAVS because tbh even KPJs worst day here doesn’t compare even 2% to Watsons best day as a creep..and the Cavs sent KPJ packing kinda quick…but then again if he was an all star maybe they wouldn’t have and maybe it’s all pro sports that shares the disgusting culture that is permeating this Watson debacle. But for not it hasn’t happened yet to where the Cavs have to step up and take that L…they’ve done things right and they go for character guys first in the current iteration of the team…so yeah…go Cavs

backpage dot com and e-rotic monkey back in the day were pretty famous for that type of service.

I mean, I wanted somehow for KPJ to stay. It might have cost the Cavs Mobley, and I would never trade that...

This situation sucks supremely for a number of reasons, but it will be good for the Browns at least in the short-term. And given the NFL in general, it's just another brick in the wall of how they do business. I came to peace with that a while ago. That's a rant I'd save for Off Topic, though.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no ethical consumption in the NFL (especially if you are a fan of the league's stated "GOAT"). I'd like there to be, though, since I actually do like watching the game.
