How to watch the Guardians on TV

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This has been one of the sticking points; Diamond wanted streaming rights to continue the contracts as written, and the MLB teams said no. So if Amazon comes on board, well, I think the bigger issue still remains.
Because Diamond is in bankruptcy, revenue < expenses + loan repayments. If it was just getting rid of loans on pennies on $s, the contracts would go on as is. But, they got to lower the $$$ they give each mlb team in order to be fairer to their creditors. So, it’s a balancing act and why they are dropping some cities/teams that aren’t profitable. MLB wants long term streaming rights and thus are trying to get Diamond to either put up on the money (to all teams - to get as much as they can to owners) or to shut down everything for them to take over like Padres… on as many teams as possible to get closer to their long-term plans

Kind of weird as Bally”s stream Guard but mlbtr update

December 19: Evan Drellich of the Athletic reports that Diamond has streaming rights for five of the MLB teams whose broadcasting deals it covers: Detroit, Kansas City, Miami, Milwaukee and Tampa Bay. Even if an agreement between Amazon and Diamond is reached with regards to streaming, they would need to negotiate additional deals with MLB if they want to stream games for any of the other six clubs.

Ballys doesnt stream Guardians games. They don't have streaming rights. Ballys tried to get them in their bankruptcy filing, MLB/Gs refused, judge sided with MLB/Gs. So like I already stated, if Amazon signs on, great, but the Gs streaming dilemma remains unless Amazon ponies up.

It definitely looks like Amazon is very interested in getting some streaming rights, gather enough new offerings, plus current Amazon Prime perks... They end up getting a bunch of pre-existing subscribers to add on a couple bucks to their bill in order to get some new streaming sports/other packages.
And if it works right... You end up with new subscribers who initially climb aboard for a tiny sliver of your offerings.

Per Sports Business Journal ..

Diamond agreed to pay most of its MLB teams a full rights fee this season, as part of a deal the two sides worked out -- but still haven’t signed -- last week, sources said.

Three teams are not part of that agreement -- the Twins, Guardians and Rangers. The Rangers and Guardians have long-term deals with Diamond. The Twins’ deal expired at the end of last season.

By the end of this week, Diamond committed to put in offers for those teams -- presumably at lower rights fees than they have been paying.

If those teams do not accept the new deals from Diamond, their local rights will revert to MLB -- just like the local rights for the Padres and Diamondbacks did last season.

I just want to know who has them so I can figure if I want to stick with MLB.tv or do something else... Make it stupid simple and cheap for the fans

We can only assume this is VERY good news. Can't wait to see the details.
Issue is as someone pointed out, Diamond only owns 5 streams and not Guardians. Thus, still up in air what they do w us as we were not profitable at last year's rate. And, if time spent negotiating w Amazon, how much were we a focus on new rate?

It says Prime gets the right to sell streaming packages for the teams Bally's own's the streaming rights. Which as of now isn't the Guardians, I really, really hope that changes. I enjoy YouTube TV and get the Cavs with the awful Bally's Sports Plus. Would really like to have a good way to get the Guardians.

I just hope we know which place has the Guardians and they are responsibly priced... I want them off of cable personally...

“ It was reported back in December that Amazon was discussing a streaming deal with Diamond but the latter company only had streaming rights for five clubs: the Tigers, Royals, Marlins, Brewers and Rays. Reporting from last week suggested that MLB shot down the discussions between the two companies, perhaps with the intent of negotiating a deal with Amazon directly.”

Before the bankruptcy, Bally's had a contract with the Guardians for 2024. When they went into bankruptcy, they wanted to get out of it. With the investment from Amazon Bally's will satisfy all debtors and come out of bankruptcy.
So, the way I see it, the G's will be on Bally's in 2024. However, Bally's will be through Prime Video. (like Thursday Night Football.)

For those of you not familiar with Prime Video, it is a streaming service that is FREE as a benefit for being a Amazon Prime member. Amazon Prime costs $139/year, or $15/mo. You also get other benefits like free shipping on purchases.
Also, for any streaming service you need a good internet connection.

Problem is Bally’s doesn't own the streaming rights for Guard so can’t be streamed via Amazon right now.

Edit - this is Amazon part …
mlbtr wrote “9:50am: Josh Kosman of The New York Post reports that Amazon is giving Diamond roughly $100MM for the streaming rights of the Tigers, Royals, Marlins, Brewers and Rays. That money and the Sinclair settlement money could be presented to a Houston bankruptcy judge as early as today”
