Do Not Sell My Personal Information
anyone know anything about this apparently a new ipod coming out??? people seem to think its going to have a touch screen like the iphone.

That would be PIMP.

But the problem might be that if it has a small screen like the regular ipod, then the touch screen will be really problematic.

If it is a bigger, newer design, the battery life problems might arise.

.........but I am sure that it will be ok.

PS- I am looking forward to playing with a touch screen iPod.

PPS- It would be pimp if this new iPod had a WiFi web brouser like the iPhone.

I sold my old iPod. I guess I need to fork over more money soon.

I'd appreciate some opinions on the article below. What do you guys think of this technology? The image quality is extraordinary. Would you want this? Would you use it? Most importantly...do you think it would sell? Any and all opinions, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

iPhone as Projector: Should Apple Pass or Adopt This New Technology?

A recent article in Conde Nast Portfolio talks about a new technology that is about to hit the mobile device market. Microvision, a company in Redmond, Washington is developing a tiny laser that will allow mobile devices like phones and MP3 players to project video content from the device. This laser is powerful enough to project video on a wall the size of a 60” television screen.

Apparently, Motorola has already inked a deal with Microvision to bring it to a phone and the company is also preparing to launch a compact projector that will be able to plug into a video iPod or other phone.

On Tuesday, I wrote about the benefits of Apple developing a mobile version of Keynote and how it could help Apple’s penetration in business markets. The ability to then project the presentation from the phone itself could put the iPhone in a very lucrative position for business users.

Home use of a projector-enabled iPhone has tons of potential too. You now have a portable theatre system everywhere you take your phone (which is basiclaly everywhere).

Do you think Apple should push for this type of technology in the iPhone or do you think this is better served as a standalone accessory?

This would be a smart move by Apple if they really want to try to enter and get a foothold in the business world. I know where I work (Cleveland Clinic) there is a huge need for projectors... more demand than supply a lot of times. A simple portable device like this could be very beneficial for presentations.

Presentations, but if you could watch music videos there, or even movies or something that'd be pretty awesome. Just a little something more to add to it's versatility.

For years cell phone makers have been striving to get the phones smaller and smaller. The problem is that the users want big screens. This technology totally eliminates that limiting factor. Imagine if you are riding a train, bus, airplane and being able to shoot a HD quality image on the seat in front of you, or on a wall...wherever/whenever. Sharing photos, watching a movie, doing a presentation...whenever/wherever. The image is always in focus whether you are aiming it 12" in front of you(approx 16" image) or 6 feet in front of you (60" image).
We are going to offer this tech in two forms to start, as an embedded display(in a phone) and as an accessory display(think of a projector that is the size of a deck of cards that you can hook up to your phone/laptop/digital camera/ipod).

This is the holy grail of display technology as far as I'm concerned. Our biggest hurdle has been the green laser....it didn't exist in a form that was small or cheap enough...now it does. Then next problem was the size of the "package". It started out the size of a refridgerator...now we have it down to the size of a thin mint. It's ready for prime time and and I'm pretty freaking excited about.

Sorry to deviate from the topic with my own little survey, but I think this tech is a natural for the iphone....just curious what others thought.

This is a horrible idea. I will never again be able to find an open stall in a public restroom.

I want one too....

Would be hilarious to go around with with pornographic images, and just shooting them everywhere, and making people uncomfortable...

Sure, Pip, that's why you want it...to show porn to others. :jerkoff:

Yeah, the porn applications are only limited by your imagination.

Think about a 60" high-def video on your bedroom ceiling:yay:

Could you imagine how funny it would be to go around and terrorizing teens that are with the parents...:chuckles:

Just go around, and start playing porn while they're eating or something... It would get everyone uptight ......Hilarious...

Of course, there are some risks involved...your phone rings during a business meeting, and you accidentally push the wrong button...All of a sudden, a 60" high-def image of your boss's wife playing "Rodeo" while riding reverse cowboy on your junk pops up...

Instead of red lasers, you can just play a full out porn video on the backboard to distract the freethrow shooter.

How much is this thing? They might as well call it urbroke.
