All of that good character and good culture won't mean shit if we're still losing games for the sake of player development.
Especially if we are still shooting bricks and scoring 2-3 points in a 5-6 minute time span and getting out scored 14-2....which was a reoccurring theme last year!

Brown was 6’6.75” in shoes, 6’11.75” wingspan, 223 LBs at the combine. I doubt Okoro is near the height or wingspan numbers. Why do you guys think he’s bigger?

Because he's thicker. Stronger.

If he is, it's not by much. Which is fine because he's strong enough to get to the basket through contact.

Against the children who play college basketball. You can’t play bully ball and be built like he is. Dudes going to get worked in any type of ISO setting by grown men.

What are you all talking about scoring droughts...

Okoro has elite slashing ability that is perfectly suited for the NBA, already has a more-than-NBA-ready body, loves to take initiate and take contact, has excellent footwork and body control on drives and finishes well with either hand. Eg has the potential to make offense out of relatively little as long as we have a good passing scheme. And he's a high IQ player so expect him to know where to pick his spots.

And he projects to be an excellent defender.

Aren't those all things you want to prevent runs from the opposing team?

What alternative player at 5 would you like who would be better at preventing scoring droughts and why?

Not worried at all about his shot. With his demeanor he will be shooting 35% from 3 by year 3.

Also can anyone show me a correlation between defense and length? Genuinely curious because a lot of "pitbull" defenders in the NBA aren't freakishly long or anything, they are strong, smart, and put in effort. Exactly what Okoro is.

And is there a website with shooting splits, eg within 5 feet, or catch-and-shoot 3's, for NCAA?

I think the issue people have with length is that none of the players in our current lineup have any.

I feel a little like I am taking crazy pills here. This is Jaylen Brown in high school.......the biger, longer, probably heavier guy that people think Okoro is bigger than?

Dude was a brick house at 17/18.

Brown was imposing physically at Cal as well.

I think it is an ok shooting comparison but the huge gulf in their skillset is scoring & FT generation.

Per 100:

Okoro - 8.6 FTA, 23.2 PTS
Brown - 13.5 FTA, 31.1 PTS

Brown took more shots but man, those are really large gaps....if you are trying to make the argument that his best case is a Jaylen Brown path.

That is the big concern for me with Okoro......is will he be offensively skilled enough at the NBA level to not be a big liability on that end?
