No.

I'm just happy we got a great athlete. NBA ready body but not done developing. And he does the LITTLE THINGS. We don't have to build good habits with him because he already has them. I couldn't watch us try to develop a guy that doesn't rebound or defend. Become a good shooter is literally the only thing you have to worry about. I'd rather have to fix that than a player's attitude, work ethic, bball IQ/feel, athleticism.

Is AST % misleading here? I mean, Vassell has a 2:1 AST/TO ratio. He's a solid team passer and if he improves on the move, has the ability to become an all around offensive player.

Analytically, everything says to take Vassell, for what it is worth. By every measure, save FTR, he is a better and more impactful player.......and they are effectively the same age. I guess you can argue that Okoro is more physically ready, which he is....but is that enough?

Vassell is the guy, if he measures well, you take in a heartbeat (to me). If he has true size for the 3 position, he is one of the best SF profiles in a while. If he does measure well, it is possible he's not even there at 5 though.....so we'll see.

Vassell shot...... 68% as a freshman from the line.

I'd imagine if Okoro shot 42% from 3, there would be less of a concern with what his free throw percentage is.

The problem is he's neither a good FT shooter or a 3PT shooter...and the percentage of those guys who develop are really low.

It doesn't mean he will fail, it just means that the historical success rate of players like him is less than ideal for someone taken this high.

FWIW, I was reading up on Okoro and other prospects this afternoon. Compared a lot to Andre Iguodala coming out of Arizona.

If the Cavs hadn't gotten Cedi who shot sub 60% from the line Poppin I would be more worried.

Tell the truth, would you have drafted either Jalen Brown or Kawhi in the top ten? I say no. There is more to these guys than their numbers. I have never ever seen a guy with body control and touch like Okoro fail to learn to shoot.

Magette might be the exception.

You said last year Porter was nothing special. There were hundreds of guys with his profile. He outperformed Barrett on a per minute basis.

Okoros shot selection is excellent. He will have better players to pass to and the floor will be spread for him and he will be able to get to the basket. I think he has a high floor, and his ceiling is limited by his jumpshot like a lot of college players.

He has Brandon Clarke finishing numbers man. It's really good

I'm pulling for him and I'll probably eventually get on board with the pick but it just feels like he's going to be closer to the Stanley Johnson's than the Jaylen Brown's of the world.
His body type and fluidity is much better than guys like Stanley Johnson or Justice Winslow. Those guys were more upper body strength and too bulky.
