Okoro isn't getting designed plays for him to finish, and I don't see the problem with it.

What I saw on the Raptors game reminded me of Splash Brothers in their prime. Either Donny or Darius initiate the offense. The first option is often a run to the rim for Allen or Mobley. The other guard runs to the weakside three point corner.

Evan Mobley is growing not just as a scorer, but also as a passing hub. In the past two games, he is averaging three assists a game. Some of those passes are big-to-big drop offs and some are kickouts to the weakside corner.

Just like the Warriors of a few years ago, you want Curry or Klay open in the corner, not Draymond. The offense is getting great looks for the players you want shooting open threes.

I was prepared he might take awhile. Defense has been stout outside of the back to back against the Hawks.

I think he is poised to be pretty good provided he is able to keep the shooting up. We want higher volume from him, but if he can be efficient like this, it isn't much worry with the rest of the starters.

He didn't pass up any shots like Wade did. Just keep taking what you are given and build on it.

The problem is the for the Warriors, Draymond would often be the one running the offense from the top of the key. Defenses had to guard him. No one even bothers guarding Okoro, on his 2nd three last night there was no one within 12 feet of him. That makes it more difficult to get anything open underneath. Playing 4 on 5 against good teams will get you beat in the playoffs

The way you adjust is that you actually start kicking the ball over to him more often when no one is guarding him. Currently, teams know that Mitchell or Garland are still going to take the shot whether Okoro is guarded or not. Kick it over to him 5-7 more times a game. If he continues to hit shots and attack close outs, you'll see those defenders magically start sticking with him instead of abandoning him.

Defenses are practically begging us to pass it to him. So do it. Take what they give. If he flops, get him out of there or go back to ignoring him as an offense.

Problem is he doesn’t hit those shots and other teams know that, rather Mitchel or Garland take a contested 3s then Okoro wide open from the corner any day

Somebody posted earlier this year that Okoro has shot the most wide open 3s in the league, add to that theyre all from the corner.. his 34% is pretty terrible

IMO, If the offense had more movement, we could take advantage of his athleticism. A lot of times he camps in the corner for the whole play. I don't know if it's him or JBB, but if you don't move, you're making it easy for the defender.

I feel like this argument is disingenuous and doesn't reflect the current reality. He's hitting 35.5% for the full season, which includes his abysmal start.

In December, he hit 1 three the first half of the month. In January he shot 47.6% and in February he has shot 43.3%. I know he's not shooting a high volume, but 2 months is not an aberration. He IS hitting those open shots almost half the time. So start increasing his volume by finding the open man.

It seems insane to me to leave him in the corner with no one within 12 feet, refuse to pass it, and then blame him for not hitting enough threes. What's the point in tracking the myriad of stats that we do as fans and teams, but not adjusting our strategies and beliefs to what the data is showing us?

Very much agree. Okoro's shot wasn't great coming out of Auburn. The Cavs have a lot of confidence in their shooting coaches to reconstruct a player's mechanics, which they also changed with Sexton and Evan Mobley.

If Okoro and Mobley both improve from distance as much as Sexton improved, this team will be very dangerous long-term.

Yeah, even if they don't hit a really high volume, those 2 guys hitting shots 4 a game combined would go a really long way. I have been dreaming of it after seeing Mobley's increased confidence there. I have been afraid to voice it. Okoro is attempting more than Wade right now. Both guys are still very young. I was very worried about their 3 pt shooting last year, but I am starting to think it is going to be better than ok.

I think they don't move Okoro from the corners because he just isn't good from other areas of the floor. Here is his shot chart, I think it would be fine if he was a big and could also drop into the paint to score and grab rebounds. It's just an odd shot chart for a SG/SF. He literally has a non existent shot chart for the back court.

What if Okoro's shot was from the top of the key ?

I think its disingenuous that you have a post like this but only post 3 times a month.

You are like the Okoro of this board, sure you are hitting on your posts when you decide to take a shot, but you just dont post enough.
