In general, I believe we as fans got a little too compartmentalized in the discussion of potential draft picks. Usually, this conversation only lasts two months or so, not nine plus months.
Some scout and draft site services preferred Deni, some preferred Okoro. They aren't that far apart as prospects. Their draft slots and the conversations our front office held also reveal that small gap.
A few posters were looking for reasons to tear Avdija down to build Okoro up, as well as vise versa. I don't think that is a take that ages well.
Avdija has some clear advantages - off ball offense and defense, height advantage, catch and shoot, playmaking. Okoro has some advantages - on ball defense, general better left hand, playmaking out of the P&R, shot off the bounce. It was a great situation that two small forwards were around the #5 area of the draft for the Cavs. They picked someone who clearly wants to be in Cleveland, can't be upset at that.
Let's see how it plays out, but I'd be careful about letting excitement over one prospect lead to bias against another.
