Wow all this BS and no mention of how well Okoro guarded Curry
Yeah, he made him really work for those 33 points.
Actually, limiting Curry to 33 points on 25 shots isn't bad at all. Curry only shot five free throws and a couple of those were gifted by the refs. But Okoro had some help - there was a lot of doubling of Curry which he passed out of resulting in points for teammates. The W's shot 51% from the field and 30-for-46 on 2-point attempts.
What hurt us most was their three bench players shooting 18-for-29 (62%) and scoring 45 points while our bench managed only 23. Nance, Wade, Delly, and Hartenstein scored 9 points in 58 minutes. I can see why posters have been suggesting they bring Sexton off the bench.
The other problem was Love was floundering on the second night of a back-to-back and shot 2-for-10 as well as being victimized repeatedly on defense. Okoro was so focused on defending Curry that he only scored 6 points. So our starting forwards combined for 11 points in 58 minutes.
Garland's shooting was off in the first half. He had an uncontested corner 3 and hit the side of the backboard. I'll bet Curry has never done that in his life.
Nance needs to develop some kind of inside game. Even when he's close to the rim he won't shoot. He needs to develop a reliable jump hook and a fallaway. Also a pump fake with an up-and-under move. With his leaping ability there's no reason why he should keep passing the ball when he has a height advantage at the rim.
Garland was saying the Cavs' best basketball of the year is ahead of them and they're ready to make a playoff run. Well, let's see it starting Saturday. But there's nothing they can do right now about being a team of one-dimensional players other than have Nance, Okoro, and Allen keep working on their offense and Sexton and Garland work on their defense.
Love needs to get with a trainer in the off-season and work on flexibility and quickness. He looks stiff and slow. He used to be very effective from the low post with either a baby hook from in front of the rim or a baseline fallaway off a spin. So far this year both those moves have been all but non-existant. He tried the jump hook last night and got it swatted back at him.
