Its too damn cold Saints @ Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ask yourself why Nick Chubb hasn’t looked good in 7 weeks. It’s not because he sucks. The O-Line has been terrible.

We’re also not going away from the run. We’ve been terrible at run blocking.

How come we had 31 passes and in the second half we literally stopped running the ball?

That's on the coach... They got away from it which is not a surprise. I said they would try to pass to much if we got Watson...

Respectfully, you don’t know what you’re talking about in this case.

The running game has been awful since the bye week. And it has nothing to do with Stefanski “getting away from it”

We were never successful at running the ball in this game man. We had 59 yards on 22 carries before Chubb’s 19 yard run.

You’re trying to make a point about something that didn’t happen. We can’t go away from something that we never got any traction on.

There was nothing in this game to suggest that if we simply ran it more we would’ve just magically been successful.

I think people really underplay how easy it is to stop the run when you know they’re going to run.

The Hill packages are tough because when you 8 the box, it’s still running against a 7 man, because the QB is a threat to carry or block.

But when we’re running against an 8, and the 8 can sell out for the run? No offensive line play is going to just magically clean up. There’s not enough hats.

Bad weather games shouldn’t sell anyone one way or the other offensively.

Defensively? When they played press, it was really successful, including against the run, because you could set an edge with a DB for once (instead of them being 8+ from the edge. Would like to see them do this against Washington.

I was about to say, check the % of running plays vs passing plays when we have Watson running the offense and when we had Brissett as the starter... I am not near my computer, so I cannot check, but I would bet it's not the same...

Either way, I don't like how the offense has been run. The announcers and even Cribbs in the after game show was confused on why they got away from the run and the play calling in general. We are a run first offense and I feel we aren't using the screens, pitches, play actions etc like we should be...

You’re ignoring the answer that’s being told to you in multiple ways.

It’s not the same. Only not in the way you think.

Brissett averaged 33.5 pass attempts per game. Chubb averaged 18.2 rushes per game with Brissett.

Watson is averaging 30.8 pass attempts per game. Chubb is averaging 19.0 rushes per game with Watson.

If anything, the Browns have been far too conservative since Watson returned.

We've had a fourth string center and since he took over our OL has sucked, until today our third string center came back but he played soft in his first game back. The right guard also was hurt and though he has since returned he has been Charmin soft. Two weak links in the middle of our OL chain has not given us good results and we do not dominate the line of scrimmage the way we did when everyone was healthy. Conklin also missed games and came back from injury, and I'd say he has been less than stellar since returning. So no, this has not been the same OL that gave us a top of the league running game.

Also, teams have figured out some ways to stop and stuff our running game and we aren't doing much to adjust back.

Naw, I saw, but I sincerely hate the play calling and how the offense has been run... Shoot the announcers and post game show also hated both... I think the issues are with Stefanski...

I just hated the downfield pass calls on 3rd and 4th down with 2 yards to a first down, especially in this wind. I have hated them all year. There's lots of other ways to get 2 freaking yards besides a slow developing run, a run up the gut into the teeth of a stacked line, or a downfield pass (those seem to be our three main options in this scheme). I think some audibles should be in play to go away from the strength of the defense once the teams are set and you have a good pre-snap look.

The likely truth of the offense is that it's a number of factors: degraded O-Line play (whether due to injury or other teams catching on), a QB that is picking the game back up after a long layoff, execution, and IMO when it comes to Stefanski, overall game management.

I don't even think Kareem Hunt is cooked like that; the O-Line isn't what it was in 2020 (before the injuries came in). Both Hunt and Chubb have to fight more than the average RB for the yards they get.

There are times (speaking to the game management part of this) where I almost feel like the game plan isn't even to win, but to get through the game. Not quite tanking but the urgency to win doesn't seem to be there at times. The goal to get manageable 3rd downs. The BS after Deshaun managed a 2nd and 1 and the drive ending up a punt? Hints of kayfabe in the air.

With the speed we have at QB, and the fact we have RBs who are great at catching the ball, pitches and screens, play action to short routes, really should be apart of the offense in my mind...

So are people still sold on Stefanski keeping his job after the season?

I got called a troll for asking that question 7 or 8 weeks ago.

I think it's more likely than not that he gets fired.

No.

When you don't understand the game, maybe listen and learn.

Plenty of posters have discussed the problems with this offensive line, and the issues were on clear display today.

Cam Jordan (who is a hall of fame in his own right) absolutely worked Wyatt Teller today and blew up multiple plays in the backfield.

When your RB is hit behind the line of scrimmage because your right guard, who was one of the best guards in football, has been awful since his calf injury, that isn't a coaching issue.

It's also one of the reasons we're willing to pass more. Our offensive line isn't creating the opportunities for our running game.
