That would a pretty good contract for both sides. If that is indeed the offer I hope he bites. Maybe he should talk to Nick Chubb for some advice.

No way do i want NBA people talking to Nick Chubb, that will just piss Chubb off and other NFL players realizing how fair their CBA is vs the NBA, lol.

Lets not fuck up the Browns, we have a good thing going.

I agree. They're trying to sign him to an extension, not to let him test the market. That way neither side looks like they're out to get every last dollar. If JA rejects it and chooses to enter RFA to test the market then that will tell us something about where his head is at.
This makes sense. Just come in strong and put it to bed. This is going to be a fun few years I think.

I guess you're right. I was only looking at it from the Cavs side of things.

Although I'm sure everyone is fully aware of everything, and I'd bet Chubb is pretty satisfied with $20 mil. guaranteed. It shouldn't always be about getting every last dollar if your other needs are being met.

If we lock Allen down for 5 years, I think we have a case to made for the best young front court in the NBA (behind NOP maybe?). Allen is the perfect fit for Mobley because he's a good rebounding, plus defense center who gets his offense on cuts to the basket and clean up. Next to Mobley who is a ridiculous passer and face up player it's a great fit. Defenses are going to have a hell of a time stretching the help defense away with both these shot blockers on the court. I'm thrilled.

5/100 is the upper limit of what I am comfortable offering Allen. Why offer that at the outset? There is no one that can match a 5/80 or 5/90 deal. This is silly.

Is this one of their 2 5 year contracts? Or does that just apply to max contracts? Fine with the money, but I don't think Allen is a future star. THE other 5 year one will be gone next year.

Nick Chubb is guaranteed 20 mill over 3 years and might be our best player while Allen is going to make 20 mill a year. Something is wrong in the world of sports, lol

You might pay more than someone else will offer to get more years. For example, if he feels like the market isn't good for him, he could sign a 2 year offer sheet for a bit less money and then test unrestricted free agency afterwards. You might trade 2 or 3 million a year for 3 more years of control.

This is not the outset. You can be certain the backchannel conversations/negotiations have been going on for weeks if not months.

Fair enough. Still seems too high to me. If he were to hit the market the best he could get is like 4/64 right?

Who is out there that would offer more than 4/64 to Allen?

Raptors could have offered him 20 M and passed on the Lowry for Precious and Dragic deal. Thunder have no centers and have cap space to offer that much. Possibly Dallas.

Spurs and Knicks too. Once the Chips fall with Lowry and CP3 a bunch of teams with cap space are going think awfully hard about getting a 23 year old plus defensive center with it.
