He's really putting guys in an environment where they can succeed and get rewarded for their defense.

Very nice positive feedback loop.

It makes you wonder, how good the team will be with a regular training camp.

Yeah. My big question is what can the team be without Drummond? How much of step back will it be?

If,they re-sign Allen and let Drummond walk I think the team will be better...imo

It's possible, but I don't tend to think so.
If you cut him from the team right now or even once Nance is back I’d tend to agree but I think we are also building in expected growth and leaps from the young guys and a replacement backup center signed or traded for to back up Allen when we talk about next year.

Yeah I am just not sure. It would probably take a lot of analysis. I would love an unvarnished take from the coaching staff.

His rebounding can't be replaced. There is simply no one better, and it is not all just the Big Z tip drill. It has a large effect on our defense keeping teams to one shot.

His hands as a defender at his size, just can't be replaced. He is so good stealing the ball. We do have Larry and Okoro as good thieves still, but from his position it is really impressive.

Allen is a good defender, but you can't make up the amount of room that Drummond takes up in the paint while maintaining his mobility. I really think that Embiid would be the only way to replace that.

His passing, is rare.

As much credit as we want to give to Bickerstaff, which I think is warranted, Drummond deserves some props.

Driummond's contributions to raining our floor is pretty real IMO. He absolutely hurts the offense regularly, but I think the defense and his passing on offense are big pluses.

Allen for sure is a good player, and i think most of the time he will be the better answer, but this is I think going to result in the same thing that Larry replacing Love has done for us. It is going to make the team easier to guard not having Drummond.

I hope it is just a small step back, but the way Drummond can just absorb minutes, stay healthy, and take possessions when nobody else has anything going is something that is important to the team right now.

Not gonna freak out (okay, I already did a bit) because we knew the team wasn’t great and overachieving. But I’m not impressed with JBB at the moment.

- the team seems gassed already. The early returns on the defensive selling out has them collectively tired early in the season. At least to my amateur eyes.
- letting Drummond do Drummond things every game. Ego management is one thing. This is another. He gives away so many possessions every game. Even late in the game when it’s close! A bunch of wasted possessions.
- the team very much lacks offensive skill. Only a couple creators. A general lack of ball handling. But this is no excuse for the ball watching and lack of cohesion we are seeing. Teams are taking away the transition game and the Cavs has no answers.

I’m sure there’s more to say but I’m still processing getting outgritted by the softest team in the NBA.

JBB has done a great job connecting with our young core, but there have been a lot of head-scratching decisions. Maybe the force-feed Drummond game plan is a directive from the front office. Maybe it's an effort to keep him engaged. I hope it's not our "this is our best chance to win" game plan.

One other thing I don't understand: We drafted Okoro to be a ball-stopper. He's our best on-ball perimeter defender. Why aren't we using that skill to our advantage? When guards like Quickley or Edwards start getting into a rhythm, why not switch Okoro onto them?

JB needs some coaching help with the offensive side of the ball.

Our system is grossly outdated.

We're second to last in 3PTA generated, ahead of only the Knicks by 0.2 and behind the Spurs for 28th by 3 full attempts (the gap between 28th and 29th is the same as the gap between 20th and 28th).

At least with the Knicks, their primary offensive guys are Randle and Barrett, who are best around the basket.

Sexton should be bombing away from deep, and it's unacceptable for guys like Garland and Windler to only have a few, or sometimes no, 3PTA in a game.

Drummond is a major culprit to the low 3 point attempts.

So...he shouldn't be playing 30+ minutes while Jarrett Allen plays 15. That needs to stop. Don't care if Drummond pouts.

Also.....play Dotson more. Even if that means playing Sexton or Garland less. Dotson will absolutely get the 3PA per game up.

Yep, he can pass big to big or to someone cutting, but he never passes it out of the post to the perimeter.

I'd be saying, "Dre can't see the guys open on the perimeter. He can't see them out there when they are open." during film. He is the type of guy who reverse psychology works on like a charm.

One of the biggest things the coaching staff needs that it is just not going to get this season is a real training camp and a less compacted schedule that allows for some actual in season practices.

Not a fan. Overrated as hell.

For what JBB brings to the table. He’s better off as an assistant. The Cavs need a real Coach.

Stole from @Omar The Horse
Seeing that chart is a red flag.

The media needs to start asking some TOUGH QUESTIONS that THE FANS want to know!

Why is Drummond being used so much offensively when he produce so little?

Why does Drummond touch the ball every other possession?

Why does Drummond get rewarded for shit play?

I thought the Cavs were building a culture and accountability? Can’t be with Drummond doing whatever the hell he wants. I don’t see JBB as a long term solution for the Cavaliers. His offense stifle the Cavs. JBB doesn’t run plays, doesn’t get other players open looks, doesn’t put anyone else other than Drummond into position to score.

Kudos for the defense, but it’s not enough.

He loves or fears Drummond too much.
