The poise and composure to coach a daytime game in Denver, on Easter, with that altitude, in that vicious environment and to keep it within 30 shows we have something special…

There is a valid criticism to be had about the way this guy overextends his players...every single key player in our rotation has missed at least a week's worth of games because of injury...a lot of guys way more than that. So many knee issues.

If you look at JBB teams historically, they always sputter out in March and April because of injury and exhaustion. This year is no different.

The player's agents are probably on to something.

Dean Wade averaged 20.5 minutes per game and has already missed 21 games. The knee injury is JBB’s fault for playing him too much?

There are valid criticisms to be made about JBB. Blaming him for Wade’s injury isn’t valid.

Then again Jarrett’s finger injury that caused him to miss the last 18 games of the season (Cavs went 7-11) is also contributing to evidence JBB’s teams fade late. It was of course JBB’s fault that Allen got hurt, right? (Allen hasn’t missed any games since the first six this season but even that was probably JBB’s fault as well because he played him too much in practice I guess).

Okoro is out with a bad toe, not a knee injury. But he’s missed 11 games and averaged 27.4 mpg. Too many minutes, JBB strikes again.

Mitchell and Strus are 22nd and 75th in mpg this season. Mitchell is just behind LeBron and just ahead of Brunson (all three round to 35.2 mpg). Mitchell has also missed 25 games. His mpg are right around most other star players. Too many minutes, JBB ruined both of them.

It‘s not like we are the only team with injuries.

Ty Jerome is totally JBB’s fault though. Played him 15 minutes total in the first two games of the season and he’s done. Clear case of overusing a player. Fireable offense.

Again, every year with JB we go through this. The exhaustion. The injuries. It's why Mitchell's record without Garland is overrated because those wins came early in the year. Garland led Cavs were 35-21 in 2022. Then 8-20. My guess if Mitchell missed the first 30 games next year with JB, the Cavs would still do very well. Then Mitchell comes back, the team peaks and goes downhill.

Either JB's off-season conditioning sucks. His training camp is too much or he plays guys to many minutes early damaging them, the Cavs need a second opinion

And we know Wade was already having knew issues before the birth of his kid. Same with Donny before he was forced to sit out after playing 45 minutes in a B2B.

Obviously JBB is the only coach let guys play through injury, but (the lack of) load management and letting injuries linger until someone has to miss significant time is an issue

He plays guys 12 min in a row a lot. Most coaches don't do that. May not be total min, but consecutive min.

Nurse played Embiid the entire 1st and 3rd quarters. He’s now doing the same with Maxey. There have been games Maxey has played the entire second half.

Thibs also plays his guys for long stretches.

Pitch counts were not an issue until the 80s. You pitched a starter until he screwed up. Stronger starters would pitch an entire game; weaker starters would give you 6-7 innings. Nowadays a starter who goes 7 innings is rare, and complete games very rare.

Maybe analytics will lead to more stringent minutes restrictions in the hope of avoiding injury or a decline in performance due to “overuse”. The difficulty is that every player is different of course. Also pro athletics is about pushing limits and achieving beyond what you think is possible and there’s often no way of knowing in advance what is too much.

You just used the two worst examples possible to defend Bickerstaff. Embiid literally just came back from injury and Thibs is known to overplay his players to a ridiculous stint leading to injuries

Yeah, with Nurse and Thibs both, the chief complaint is the minutes that they play guys and the amount of wear and tear they deal with as a result. OG Anunoby is dealing with the aftermath of it literally right now.

Unlike JB, they actually bring some form of tactical sense to the equation. Thibs is a defensive mastermind and Nurse was able to maximize skillsets for quite some time in Toronto.

I wasn’t defending Bickerstaff. Just posting facts.
