One of those TIFWIW nuggets, but I’ve been told there’s a buzz around Cavs office about a (I don’t want to call it a war) trade scenario with Love to Philly or Love to Portland.

A lot of the potential deal will depend on what Sixers get back on a sign and trade from Miami Heat for Jimmy Butler.

Cavs feel excited and like they have some leverage. Portland just let Al-Farouq Aminu walk, and Philly is about to get a nice bundle of assets back on a Jimmy Butler sign and trade to Miami.

Once the dust settles, there will be teams lining up to add Love to their core to help space court and add to their rebounding. Will be fun to follow.

We’ll see. Miami owes an unrestricted 1st to the Clippers, so their assets are somewhat limited.

Portland just re-signed Rodney Hood and they have the assets to make a deal, if they’re so motivated. Ditto OKC & Denver.

I’d also keep an eye on Boston, the Clippers, & Pelicans, with a slew of young talent & draft picks at their disposal. Clippers have cap space and have struck out in free agency thus far.

Understood on Miami’s 1st rd pick. But they’re talking about moving Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, and Bam Adebayo. That’s a nice package of players.

Portland has some assets as well.

I think Cavs will be sitting in good place come next 14-21 days.

Philly is being tied to Horford as well, but when you look at fit and the $$$$, Love is the much better option.

I agree, Love makes so much sense in Philly.
They need shooting desperately, especially with Redick on the move, and they need space for Embiid to go to work inside.

I think teams like Boston, Portland, OKC and Philly are going to see an opening once the dust settles on FA.

Yep....unfortunately take Philly off table now. I was told Philly called Cavs to do an initial inquiry on interest in moving Love.

Obviously, Horford has been in play for Philly since he opted out. But the fit is just weird. Love makes way more sense. I think Horford taking less than max sealed the deal, but Embiid and Love makes so much more sense.

Still think Love gets dealt before season.....but feel like I’ve got some egg on my face now. Think the info was accurate, teams talk all the time, but seems Love was more of a backup plan for Sixers.

No egg at all mate.
Don't want posters to be gun shy about posting rumours if they think they think they are legitimate and not just being a troll which you clearly weren't.
Appreciate the info.

If the Cavs trade Love, which is still a big if, it won’t be until the trade deadline. He needs to show he can stay healthy and re-establish his value as it’s way down right now.

Most of Love’s possible landing spots are out West- Portland, Houston, OKC, LA Clippers, & Denver. Yesterday was a blockbuster day in the NBA and rosters are already becoming settled heading into the 2019-2020 season.

Here’s an article with some interesting & very realistic trade possibilities for Love:

Utah is no longer an option, now that they moved Favors to New Orleans. Denver could be an option with Paul Millsap’s expiring contract and either a young player, like Malik. Beasley, or draft pick. The earliest pick the Nuggets could trade is their 2021 first, as they had no 2019 1st rounder.

It’s a little hard to see Phoenix trading for Love, unless they’re tired of rebuilding and James Jones wants to get to winning. The selection of Cameron Johnson in the draft and signing of Ricky Rubio in free agency could suggest that.

In Portland, the acquisitions of Bazemore & Hezonja, along with the re-signing of Hood, could suggest more moves are to come. Along with Harkless & Nassir Little, the Blazers are now flush with SF’s.

Signs point to Portland as the most likely destination if a trade occurs. All those SF's but no notable PF, especially now that Aminu's gone.

To me, Meyers Leonard would be the key to any deal with the Blazers. He really started to show his worth in the playoffs last season.

7'1" true big man who can step out and hit 3s. I'd consider him a better overall prospect than Zizic.

EDIT - OK, before the Zizic backers go on full strike against me... I do now realize Leonard is 26 years old, so he's entering his prime, while Zizic is only 22. So more realistically, I like Leonard's game more, but I recognize he isn't the young prospect that Ante is.

For me the key would be Zach Collins, who’s 5 years younger than Leonard. Along with a 1st round pick or player (Little?), there’s the makings of a nice deal there.

Leonard is Spencer Hawes. I don't want him. If we don't get Zach Collins from the Blazers we should shop Love else where.

With Boston losing Horford to Philly, and the Celtics most likely losing Morris and Rozier: I think there is an opportunity to explore a trade of Love to the Celtics.

Hayward and the Memphis Pick would be a win win for both teams... Thoughts?

Don't know if you read the article above but that was one of the trade scenario's. Houston/Boston/Cleveland.
