The Blazers just signed a big man who can shoot, in Anthony Tolliver. I’m not sure that I can see a Love trade happening there anymore. Their lineup looks pretty well set:

Lillard/Simons
McCollum/Hood/Trent
Bazemore/Hezonja/Little/Layman
Collins/Tolliver/Labissiere
Whiteside/Nurkic

The only possibility I can see is if they offer Whiteside, Collins, & a 1st. I tend to doubt that happens.

You know your right, I did not see the Anthony Tolliver signing. This without question would shut the door on any interest the Blazers would have in bringing Love in to pair with Lillard/McCollum and co...

Bahahahahaha bahahahahaha..... are you serious Clark???

I doubt whiteside is in their future plans.
But I guarantee you he’s in their immediate. He’s insurance protection against Nurkic coming back 100% from injury whenever that ends up being.

For those who don’t or remember, Nurkic suffered a gruesome season ending leg injury at the end of March last season, almost April. And by gruesome I mean multiple compound fractures, to both his left Tibia and Fibula. No timetable was given for his return when the injury occurred.

The Blazers made the Western Conference finals, they aren’t going to go into next season with Zach Collins starting at C. Whiteside will start and when Jurkic returns, they will keep him as insurance if they are smart as protection with Jurkic’s health and uncertainty.

You’re absolutely right. No one seems to know when Nurkic might return from that gruesome injury. Whiteside is good insurance.

It also sounds like the Blazers acquired Bazemore to keep him, not to flip him elsewhere. Any deal for Love would need to include Whiteside or Bazemore, but neither is likely to be moved.

I really think the Cavaliers are going to need to hold onto Love and he is going to need to stay healthy in order to reestablish his value around the league. Right now, they would be trading him for $0.50 on the $1.00. At the same time, he is soon to be 31, and you don’t want to hold onto him for too long as he is a depreciating asset.

I would agree if Hood didn’t just re up with Portland and is now slated to start at SF for the Blazers next season. They also agreed to terms with FA Mario Hezonja who also plays the 3.

The only way possible for someone to argue Kent Bazemore being even close to a more valuable piece with the Blazers lineup would be if your gonna assume Bazemore starts at SF (3), which is not a sure fire thing with Hood re upping.

No one is saying Bazemore is more valuable than Love. I was saying that if they ship him for Love before the season starts, which was your proposed plan, they'd be taking more of a risk given Love's injury history. That scenario changes closer to the trade deadline, perhaps, when they have to either go for it or not. Also, I'm not convinced Hood will start at the 3. They seem to be entertaining the idea of starting Bazemore, from what I've read. They have a lot of lineup flexibility 1-3. They can sub Lillard and play McCollum/Bazemore/Hood.

So how can you argue a backup SG in Bazemore, who shoots a lower percentage than the 6’10 Love does at a starting front court position (4) brings more value to the Blazers!??

He doesn't. I didn't say that. It's about strategy, the timing of making a deal.

Since the Blazers did also just sign SF Mario Hezonga to a deal who plays SF and would backup the recently signed Hood.....the Blazers don’t have immediate room or need for the rookie Little.

Hezonja has never really taken off in the four years he's played in the league. He's purely a deep bench guy. They're much higher on Little's potential.

I didn't see that they signed Tolliver last night. That makes Collins more expendable, but I still think they wait until the trade deadline.

How pushing JR’s contract deadline could affect a Kevin Love trade:

I heard some disheartening news about Kevin Love not really wanting to work out in Cleveland with the other guys but then I talked to my Mom and she put it all in perspective for me.
Wtf?

My mama said, "you can't hurry Love
No, you'll just have to wait"
She said, "Love don't come easy
But it's a game of give and take"
You can't hurry Love
No, you'll just have to wait
Just trust in a good time
No matter how long it takes

Boooooooo

:chuckle:

The worst thing about this is that nobody has the power to ban him for that.
