If this is how Kevin continues to play, this may be his last year. His contract is up at the end of this year. He’s made a ton of money and no one is going to offer him much as a 35 yr old who just can’t get it done anymore. Maybe he gets it together and starts producing again, but if not, is he the kind of guy that would be happy in the “old guy at the end of the bench” role? It's really, really bad on the defensive end. Even if he was hitting shots, he'd still be a negative out there. Teams have been going at Love almost every single play he's out there. I just don't see how he's playable in the playoffs.
I hope this is finally the year we're able to trade him. Hopefully for a longer-term asset.

I'd bring Love back a greatly reduced, like 90%, salary if he'd take it. The Cavs need to trade LeVert before the deadline to carry that salary slot over into next season. The very last thing you do with a guy like LeVert is let him play out the season and then give his agent the are you prepared to lose him and not be able to replace him leverage. If LeVert had to test the market next season, he'd maybe get an MLE offer, and that's only because he's actually putting in effort on the defensive end. At least 90% of LeVert's trade value comes from the fact this is the last year he's on his contract. If the Cavs extend him, or offer him an above-market contract next summer, they're going to get stuck with him because his value around the league is quite low.I think we let him or LeVert expire to make up for Garland's extension kicking in and Mobley will be paid soon.
I think LeVert has more value so if i had to guess, Love expires and maybe signs a much cheaper extension. At some point, the Tax will matter and some of our more expensive but less productive players will need to go away.
The Love hate is ridiculous. He was the legit 6MOY last season (screw Herro who led his team in minutes, that's not a sixth man). He was fine this year until he hurt his thumb. That will affect shooting.
Of course it's possible he's fallen off a cliff since last year and just stinks now but lets give it some time before we leap to that conclusion.
It's not like we have a battery of long range bigs / wings on our team.
