Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

Definitely this. I was high on Hunter as a Trevor Ariza 3&D guy with great size. Cam Reddish is in that same vein but had the question marks about whether he could put it all together. Herro wasn't even in consideration this high in the lottery, every draft there are guys drafted lower that out-perform top 5 picks, so eh...

But yeah for me this conversation would be Hunter vs. Reddish vs. Garland and we shouldn't really have this conversation until end of this year. And yeah maybe not fair to add Hunter considering he wasn't available at 5 but he was definitely in that second tier of guys who could go anywhere from 4-8, not sure how keen the Hawks were on him or if we could have thrown a small asset at them for a pick swap.

Culver never passed my eye test. Coby White is another interesting alternative, a White/Sexton backcourt is intriguing, but I don't know if I would like it over Sexland. Plus there is intrinsic value from the name Sexland, Whitesex doesn't work for a number of reasons.

Also too soon to call that draft a bust, it was always three guys who many thought had superstar potential, a handful of guys with potential but question marks (Reddish, KPJ) or raw-ness (Doumbouya, Nassir), and some guys who we expected to have relatively high floors but low ceilings relative to their draft position, and/or guys with a lot of NCAA experience that "robs them of potential" like Hunter, Clarke, Windler, etc.

Coby White with Sexton would have definitely be a interesting backcourt. Surround those two with shooters and let them run downhill all game. Teams would be tired as hell by the 4th quarter.

I was taking a look at our past drafts since 2011:
Though not surprising, our success rate at the draft appears to have increased significantly since we fired Chris Grant.
Grant had an incredible 5 pick streak of pure busts before he was sacked.
Pick 4- Waiters
Pick 17 - Zeller
Pick 1 - Bennett
Pick 19 - Karasev
Pick 34 - Felix

Griffin barely drafted any players but he did find Joe Harris in the second round, who he would later trade for an Orlando 2020 2nd rounder which somehow ended up in Milwuakee who drafted Jordan Nwora.

Altmans drafting is still a bit early to tell overall but appears to be a significant improvement on Grant

Basically.. I rather have Koby rebuilding our team than Chris Grant

It makes you wonder, who Altman is going to pick in the draft...
-someone they work out and interview in person
-someone with a personality and work ethic that profiles as extremely dedicated to basketball and improvement
-likely someone who was part of the US National Team u-18 as Koby still has contacts from his time there that he leans on for candid info and evals

Sexton, Garland, and Okoro all fit the above criteria

I didn't know that about the under 18 thing until Fedor brought it up this year, but it seems like it has resulted in a pretty high hit rate. Normally, we would be dissapointed by one of these guys already.

As is we we have really only whiffed on one pick and it had nothing to do with his talent level, it was his brain.

At this point we can all agree that that Collin, Darius, Okoro and Windler are NBA players, right? Even if none of them ever sniff an allstar game, that alone is amazing drafting.

I think the jury is still out on Okoro

Still bullish on Okoro. It's 'easier' to develop offense than defense, but his natural position is SG and he has to play that position asap so that he can develop his handle and jumpshot. It would take a long time though. Patience is the key with his development on offense. This is why losing KPJ is tough. He was being groomed as a big point guard until his off court antics happened. Imagine a KPJ-Okoro back court. Would have been nice.

The cavs has to decide on sexland sooner. They cant play 2 small guards that cant defend and shoot 3s. It limits the cavs ceiling.

This is aging really well
It was too early to tell when the thread was started, and i think it's still too early... I'm not sure what impact Love and Nance would be having right now, but I suspect we'd be at least a little better. I definitely don't think we lose by 40 in our last game.
