Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

We knew this stretch would be hard. We know Sexton is hurt, and we know 2 of our best guys are out in Love and Nance.

Nance in particular seems vitally important. He was killing it and was apparently far more important to the defense than Drummond. our primary spacing was from the 4 even with Nance. He also seems crucially important to chemistry and ball movement.

No coincidence that Nance was starting to get national recognition, and then he goes down and the team immediately slides.
This means we need a nance-lite as a back up. Young veteran 4/3 type of guy.

Kevin Knox for Drummond!
i wish! knox is someone i was keeping an eye on, he was an ok rookie, and a down year last year, but seems like he's been figuring it out recently. too bad knicks is too invested in rj barrett to give knox developmental minutes.

Koby has a lot of work to do ahead of him especially before or at the trade deadline. And I don't want to see any guards brought in unless there is a huge opportunity that no one knows about .
The teams needs a athletic wing in the worst way.

Getting an athletic wing might be too much to ask for during the deadline with the players we are looking to offload.

Getting a guard who is 6'3 or 6'4 wouldn't be bad especially if that allows us to develop him for the rest of the season and the whole off-season. I'm not against getting someone like Landry Shamet or Romeo Langford that might slot into our 3rd guard long term and has some decent offensive upside.

I just hope we don't just accumulate more 2nd round picks. At some point, we need to get players or draft capital that can actually move us up to get that impact player we need.

2nd round picks do help when you want to make a move to get some players you want.

...there is no way you're talking about Kevin Knox.

Nothing in his game when he has been on the court this year suggests he is anything different than what he has been.

Kevin Knox sucks.

"But he hit a couple of open 3's vs the Cavs!!"

Yeah, not sure Knox has "it" though I guess he has some length from the perimeter which Cleveland doesn't seem to believe in as an organization.

We are talking about a return for trading drummond. I won't trade cedi for knox straight up, but drummond? Yeah sure.

Agree, I’d take about any 12th man in the league for Drummond.

The longer this drags out the more it screams we buy him out and get nothing in return.

Knox is shooting 38% from 3. He is probably too stupid to be a good defender, but developing him as a 3 and D is the way to go

The whole rebuild at this point hinges on what he does with the trio he's drafted. Which of the three he ends up trading and what he gets back and if his choice in who keeps ends up being correct.

For me, I'm hoping everyone gets back healthy after the all-star game and they go on a decent little run to up the value of everyone and then make decisions this summer.

I dread them seeing a decent stretch of ball for like 20 games and deciding that this group can do it.

What you said is true, but here’s the problem:

Sexton: A 6’1“ scoring guard that doesn’t have PG skills
Okoro: An undersized SF (really should be an SG) who can’t shoot and has no discernible offensive skill
Garland: Actually the right size for his position, but questionable if he can develop into a starter

The three guys that Koby has drafted can’t really share the floor together. Personally, I think the Cavs need to trade one of them this offseason. I’m keeping Sexton if I can, but I can’t imagine Okoro or Garland will have much value at the end of the year.
