I weep.
I’m not a fan. I haven’t seen anything that warranted an extension. Why exactly?

Same here. He put all the wrong type of players around LeBron. He turned some expirings into late picks, ok nice but that’s kind of expected. Too wary to make a acall on the draft selections under him. Just haven’t seen anything to warrant a ‘long term’ extension.I’m not a fan. I haven’t seen anything that warranted an extension.

He still put all the wrong players around him...He only had one year with LeBron, and it wasn't like Griff left him a whole lot of wiggle room for maneuver....
I think the perception and opinion of Koby is acceptable for both sides. But under the new circumstances the decision to extend him makes sense.
Who was he going to get? Outside of keeping Kyrie - something I argued for at the time - Koby did about as good of a job as possible at building a team that could get to the Finals while maintaining future flexibility. The team made the Finals and kept three out of four games incredibly close, hell, we even led for substantial periods in most of them.He still put all the wrong players around him...
Guys that could shoot for one, Griffin did it... Altman couldn’t. Put shooters around LeBron, it worked for so long no need to change it and put players like Clarkson, Nance and Hood!Who was he going to get? Koby has done a great job in maximizing player value during trades, has picked up four young pieces that have shown major potential value, and has hired what looks to be a good coaching staff.
I'm a fan. Beyond the stability argument, which - as @The Human Q-Tip points out - is very important, Koby has done a really solid job the past few years.

We have no idea how we have drafted under Koby so far, there is nothing Sexton or Garland are showing that should make us rush an extension for him. Just a bad decision.
Stability is great, but only if you have something worth investing in which we have no idea we do and evidence thus far suggests probably not.
