Could be.. but I would have at least tried to sign a guaranteed deal.
I'm just saying, he's been on a two-way deal for one of the worst teams in the league. Take what you can get.

I don't recall many other guys coming off two-way deals getting any better of a contract.

Yeah It's a little hard to complain. He is going to get millions when he hasn't really played very much. I hope I can blow it so badly one day, lol.

Yeah, I don't see teams lining up to give him guaranteed money.

If he turns down the Cavs deal, he might just end up being a straight G-League guy that occasionally gets a 10-day contract.

I just use it as a reference to what Laguentz Dort signed, he signed a similar contract and he is definitely regretting his decision. OKC got an absolute steal. Obviously, it's a bad comparison because Dort is a much younger, better player. But i'm just not a fan of these contracts when a player can breakout at any minute. Although, it's probably better than nothing. He is probably just grateful to have a chance in this league.

Good value.

He is a good guy.. he might regret this contract.
Unfortunately for guys like Lamar & Wade, when you come up through the 2-way route, the team has all the leverage. You take what you can get and hope you beat the odds by staying healthy and not getting drafted over - because even if you are a better player than the draft pick, since the team is already invested in them, the pick will get the roster spot. A lot of things have to go right to get to the 2nd contract and make better, guaranteed, money. Its a longshot, but it happens, and there are thousands of D-1 & pro level basketball players who would love that shot.

What yall thought of Stevens?

Outside needing a three ball I thought he played well this season. I was high on him after seeing his highlights on youtube. I hope he gets more minutes next season.

It was unfortunate for him to have his concussion at the end of the season. I know he gets along with the team and is working hard to make his game better. My understanding is he is working on the 3 (don’t know where specifically, thought maybe corner 3). This guy works so hard even in Penn State. He was a leader and 7 points away from the being the top scorer in their franchise until COVID happened. He was so devastated and coming to the Cavs it was tough at first but the coaches believed in him and he was able to get more confidence in showcasing himself. He has a great mid range game and plays with pride on defense. If he can develop a consistent 3pt shot, his career will be 10 yrs in the NBA.

I don't think he's an NBA-caliber player right now. He needs to improve a lot. Hopefully, we see that improvement happen this off-season.

I think he plays pretty smart. I like his defense a lot. He is active and annoying and gets up in guys. He is very strong and has hops.

There is a lot to like. It seems like his mid range is too good for him to be unable to develop that long ball. If he and Wade can be those bench guys for us, we are further along in the rebuild than we think. We need that top guy tho

IMO, high athleticism, very active on both ends of the floor, needs to develop an outside shot and passing skills if wants a future in the league. Interesting developmental player but still has a long way to go.

A 3 pt shot away from consistent rotation player
