Larry Drew - Cavaliers Acting Head Coach

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well I mean, he just has so many infinite great options to go to that Lue was ignoring with Nance, Hood, Cedi, TT and possibly Korver still out.
This is you and has been all year:

This feels like one of those Darth Vader “Perhaps you feel as if you are being treated unfairly” and “Pray I do not alter the deal further” moments. And we’re all Lando.

This also reminds me of my favorite joke as a kid:

Missionary in New Guinea, or some such place, gets captured by natives, who offer him two options: DEATH, or BOOGA-BOOGA.

The missionary says, “Well, BOOGA-BOOGA sounds like it could be WORSE than death, so I guess I will just take DEATH.”

So the chief of the natives says, “Ok! DEATH BY BOOGA-BOOGA!”

I just don't know what we can do to get coaching that takes advantage of the skills of people like George Hill and Rodney Hood who clearly need some kind of structure or system to play well. Doubt Drew will do anything as he can't really make important decisions waiting for Lue to come back.

People keep bitching about the coaching and yeah it sucks but outside of maybe Pop I don’t see any coach creating a system LeBron will adhere to. It’s the LeBron show for better or worse . Object is to slap as much talent as possible around him and basically pray its enough to win the finals . It’s been that way for his 15 years and how does the saying go ? Can’t teach an old dog new tricks ..

So basically - Lebron is uncoachable right? ( I am sure that is not what you meant, but saying it's his show with this context - kind of does).

anyway - the NBA is all business and franchise interests. I think that most of the fans here commenting over coaching issues are wishing to see a team with grit that is fun to watch (which is to an extent the head coach responsibility), sadly - that isn't always in the best interest of the franchise Lebron show IMO.

I will just add that having a winning team prior to LeBron definitely helps players have structure when they don't have his iso game to rely on. Mia added Lebron and Bosh to a 47 win team. Took the players a bit to gel but settled on playing LeBron iso or just doing what got them 47 wins before his addition.

That was one thing that excited me this year was the team could build or maintain leads without LeBron. It was sometimes more fun to watch the bench then the starters.

You could tell the difference between this guy and the Bucks coach during the ESPN wired segments:

Prunty: All right, they're working us on the boards so we all need to gang rebound. *points at each guard* You need to rebound, you need to rebound, and you need to rebound

Drew: All right boys let's get out there, get some stops, and start runnin! Yee haw

Drew can earn some respect if he keeps Zizic in the rotation with TT back. If he just benches him after admitting Zizic earned PT in the last press conference, we will know it's the same old same old.
I really hate to say this as I’d prefer TT being the emergency/garbage time 4th big. But if they do plan on using him saying 15-18 minutes a game ? He may be best starting. Zizic and Clarkson have a thing going on . But what do you do with Nance ? Can Nance and Zizic even be on the court together ? Yeah TT screws up the rotations. Love / Nance or Zizic works . Zizic or Nance with Bron or Green at the 4 works .

I think Nance and Zizic can definitely be on the court together. You give the team a different look. A new defensive look, and offensively much better scoring inside and a relentless offensive rebounding duo.

It's not all about the spacing. You can be good without a stretch 4...just got to be more creative. I mean, most teams second units don't have a stretch 4. Heck, the Warriors bench spacing is terrible.

Not counting the Terrible Bucks season, Drew has a record of 128-102 or .556.
Tyronn Lue has .617 as head coach.

Don't be expecting greatness from this guy.

I think Nance can be a stretch 4 within the next year. His jumpshot actually looks pure and even if it's not from 3, he can still hurt you. I feel the same way about Zizic actually. Can totally see him pulling a Big Z or Jonas and extending his range with the awkward, slow shot from deep.

You just run pick and roll with those guys and Clarkson. They can score off of that. Let JR be the spacer.
