Best part of this trade is we can finally cut Kabengele now right?

I actually like this. So you start Lauri/Mobley/Allen at the 3/4/5?
I don't think you start the 3 of them, ever. It's more likely that one of them is the 1st big off the bench. You have 96 minutes a game to fill at PF/C. Each player will likely get high 20s to low 30s mpg. It seems like Koby has locked in our big man rotation with young talent for the next 3-4 years.

It's an interesting strategy to go with this much size in today's NBA but Markkenan can shoot and hopefully Mobley can as well. He might be going with a strategy of the NBA being so small, we are going to create an advantage by getting young/athletic/giant big men and force opponents to react to us.

Hate this trade to be honest. Nance is a lot better and brings a lot of off-the-court value.
....when he actually plays. And spare me with off-the-court talk. Cavs need to fucking win. Promoting local businesses is very important and I loved what he did, but that was Nance's 2020/21 highlight reel

Nance was the most valuable trade asset on the team and Markannen was basically the only proven scorer left on the market. It does seem a little desperate. Trade makes us worse immediately and seems to create a leadership vacuum. Long term fit makes does not make any immediate sense and now we urgently need to remove Love from the equation. I don't like it, genuinely shocked they traded Nance.

I would not remove love unless he gives back a lot of $. Play him 12-15 mins a game in the right matchups. If we buy him out what are we going to add ?

He is also always hurt. And I will not miss him trying to be a pg. I get his affection for Cleve and wish him the best

I was wrong about Varejao and holding on to him. I get it. Larry is the better player to Lauri. I hope a change of scenery and being around guys that bust their ass change Lauri's trajectory.

The other aspect of locking in such a young trio of guys at the 4/5, it now affords you the opportunity to just load up on wings and guards.

We have 3 players who, baring health and development, will take up 99% of the minutes in the front court for the foreseeable futute.

That now leaves a 2-3 years window where we need to maximize the guard and wing talent on this team.

Narrowing the scouting focus should, in theory, be really beneficial.

Obviously the coaches know better than me, but given the track record of Kevin Love in Cleveland playing him 10 mop up minutes a night behind 3 other players does not seem like a healthy situation for anyone. I don't see how they can keep him if he has no role on the team.

Since people are citing games missed to injuries, these are the number of games each has played the past 3 seasons:

Nance: 158 games
Markkanen: 152 games

Koby is betting on Lauri and is maybe hoping he wasn't used properly in Chicago the past 2 seasons. He looked like a rising star in year 2 then everything fell apart. Would be interesting to dissect what happened.

You know Lauri has issues staying on the court too, right? And if we wanted to win, we would’ve traded Larry for a wing or a draft prospect who can turn into something. Not a soft backup to Mobley who averages 5 rebounds a game, can’t defend, averages more turnovers than assists, and doesn’t even shoot the 3 that well despite it being his one ability.
