I'd agree the trade makes us worse for now- we'll be better offensively, but worse defensively. I wouldn't be surprised if Markkanen starts at PF ahead of Mobley, at least to start the year. Once Mobley is ready to start, they may look to trade Markkanen, who is a signed to a very reasonable contract.Nance was the most valuable trade asset on the team and Markannen was basically the only proven scorer left on the market. It does seem a little desperate. Trade makes us worse immediately and seems to create a leadership vacuum. Long term fit makes does not make any immediate sense and now we urgently need to remove Love from the equation. I don't like it, genuinely shocked they traded Nance.
I think this trade was about landing a young player & potential trade chip that better fits our timeline than Nance does. I'm sure it pained the front office to trade Nance.
The next moves I'd make are to buyout Love, re-sign Hartenstein, and get a young wing with some upside.
