They just said on espn that if traded he will be interested in Cleveland, or los angelas.

oh man, if shapira pulls this off i would be so happy.

A RETURN TO CLEVELAND ?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Not when this guy turned his back on us in the prime of his career.

Screw him!!!!

This is not like Thome who said he wanted to be an indian for his whole career..I can accept the fact that he left, and would be willing to accept him back..He at least said Cleveland was where he wanted to be. Or Omar or Sandy for that matter...

Only thing Manny said was "BUENO" and gave 2 thumbs up...
spo_ramirezLR.jpg

He never indicated he wanted to remain an Indian.. And didn't the Indians offer the same amount of money ?

Forget him, Indians missed 5 seasons of his prime years production.. And now we would be getting a 33 or 34 year old outfielder who is dumb as a brick in the field.
I don't want him running around here doing his stupid double pointing gesture..

This guy left us and even if he wanted to comeback, I hope the Indians tell him to F-off.

He moved on from us 5 years ago, and seems to be having a wonderful time with his girlfriend ORTIZ..All they do is hug each other after every at bat.

It's time we move on from this guy, I don't want him sporting "THE CHIEF" ever again, even if he wanted to go into the HOF as an Indian, I would deny that request..

F- Manny

dude, fuck you. ill take a 45 home run guy and right fielder any day of the week no matter what he did.

I think i'm gonna let that slide.. It would be unfair otherwise...

Dude is droppin F-bombs on fellow posters for no reason..Oh yeah, because I don't agree with you.. Not waranted.

Stellar.

Plus, the dude is about to be 34 or is 34 and whether or not you pay attention to baseball.. You would then know Manny has decided he doesn't feel comfortable in right field, and hasn't played there for 5 years..So you would be getting a 34 year old Left fielder..And since we need a right fielder, this is pointless.

Yes, he said that, look it up if you need too. He doesn't feel comfortable in right field..

Plus it's a 17 mill man, Who eventually will be playing DH in a year or two, and oh yeah BTW, he sucks defensively..

We have a DH in Hafner that is younger...

Pointless move... Team is going in a different direction..

Oh, and the Sox are probably going to want Sizemore and Carmona for him.. :thumbdown

Screw that...

manny always said he loved cleveland and would like to come back, so i was thinking move coco over to right field and but manny in left or the other way around but i see coc playing better then right then manny, and then indians who no dout be in the playoffs. cuz if u look at last season inidans just needed one more vetern hitter and there in. COME ON MANNY COME BACK HOME BABY!!!!!!!!!!

The fact of the matter still remains. We did not want to pay Manny that money he was looking for. He left Cleveland for a pay day, not because he hated the town. We let him leave because we didn't want to give him that much money. Why absorb his horrendous contract now?

He's exactly what we need though: a huge bat that can almost guarantee an RBI whenever he steps up to the plate, someone to take the pressure off our younger bats. Stick someone like that behind automatic double-man Victor Martinez, then you have the best 1-6 in the league. Hopefully we can find this guy elsewhere. Sammy Sosa? Carlos Lee? Ken Griffey Jr.? I don't know baseball too much, but those guys come to mind.

And we don't move Coco to right field. He did his best fielding in left, because he's naturally a center. Paired with Sizemore, it's very, very nice to have 2 centers in your outfield. I'm sure Manny won't mind if he was in right, he'll be getting older and lazier, not to mention how much he was when he was here anyways. That's another problem with Manny: he's a great bat, but a bad mouth to mentor the young Indians.

Manny has as much of a chance coming back as Albert Belle in my opinion. 50% or more of my instinct says he stays in Boston and patches things over. If he does leave I say 30% Anaheim or 20% some other team, an unforseen team not the Tribe, they won't trade for him, I doubt the mets would either.

pipp i have to disagree with you on every issue you brought up.

the same season he went to boston he told reporters countless times that he wished he had never left cleveland. you actually think he wanted the money, it was his agent. like you said he is dumb as a brick.

casey blake is 32, man ram is 33. dont use his age as an excuse.

however as many bad plays he makes in the field will be heavily outweighed with his bat, and his bat is god knows how much better than blake's.

the biggest question is how much we would have to give up. bostons pitching sucks big time and we have pitching. this is where i give up hope on this happening.

oh and another thing, if we some how got him and win the series next year i highly doubt you will be bitching.

when you havent won the series in roughly 50 years you are desperate. beggers cant be chosers.

Oh!! Shut up CALI :chuckles:

Quit being so naive, sure the man is dumb, but not one person forced his hand to take the pen, scribble his name on that contract, and let the ink dry..

Bottom line, he left, and we are moving on with a young and exciting team... This team needs a leader, and this guy is not that..

Oh and BTW, no way does CoCo Crisp have the type of arm to play right for a contender.WHICH WE WILL BE..

The reason I used his age, is because he won't play right, we have a left fielder who hit .300 and plays a great outfield, and we have a DH who is 4 years younger and hits .300 30+ and 100+

So where exactly is he going to play ? (He won't play right field, he said so)

I like the Carlos Lee idea though by LYXO.. I also would like an upgrade in right field-----> but that won't be Manny.

And why would we want to pay all that money and mortgage the future at this point ? This team is moving in the right direction with youth.. Giving up a Sizemore, Sowers, Carmona is just plain ignorant..

This dude is a great bat, I will give you that, but I rather take that money and invest in keeping our pitching together (starters/relievers), and tweak the lineup with solid upgrades..

And that my friends is how you build a Champion..

Look at the White Sox, they = Pitching/Defense/Solid but not great offense... Where is their Manny ?

There are plenty of way of doing this without Manny type Players..

coco sucked ass last season in right field he dropped a few of them and dived all the time and missed, so moving coco to right to add manny or another left fielder would be good. manny a bad mouth lol man learn so baseball then come back and talk, cuz manny would be great helping our young guys, he is only of the best hittlers ever man if u like it or not and u can learn so much from him.

What in the hell are you watching if you think Coco was below-average defensively? The only part of Coco's defensive game that is below-average is his arm. He has plus speed, plus jump, and reads the ball very well off the bat.

Coco is 25 years old and hit .297 and .300 in the past two seasons with 15 and 16 HRs respectively. Those are VERY good numbers and with his ability to bunt, he becomes the ideal #2 hitter.

But people want to ignore that and focus on Ramirez. Manny Ramirez may have the most natural swing in all of baseball, and he better, because he has the IQ of a summer squash. He is horrific in the outfield, and what little ability he has there will be deteriorating and within two years, he will be a DH. This isn't even mentioning the fact that he makes $20 million per season, compared to the $365,000 of Crisp.

While we're on the topic, if you watched the HBO special on Jeff Moorad during the offseason that Manny left, you would have seen that the offers from the Red Sox and Indians were identical. Manny simply chose Boston over Cleveland, which was entirely his right.

His age is an issue, just like Blake's is. The difference is that this upcoming season will be the final one of Blake's contract, that pays him roughly $2.5 million/season. After that, hopefully one of Gutierrez, Snyder or Crowe will be ready to step up and take RF.

I'm all for spending money, but the offense from this past season has TWO total free agents, Jose Hernandez and Ramon Vazquez. Pardon me if I'm not jumping out of my skin worrying about how to improve on an offense that finished 4th in the AL in runs scored, and instead would prefer to spend the money on resigning players that were MUCH more vital to the team, like Millwood, Elarton, Howry, Sauerbeck and Wickman. If we get a RF, someone like a Craig Monroe, GREAT. If we do it at the expense of the pitching staff, we'll be sitting here again next year whining about the team as so many are right now.

im all for carlos lee, or manny. Sosa would be terrible though, hes going to get a suspension for steriods some day or another and we dont need that hanging around the clubhouse.

but ok guys just imagine this.

sizemore
crisp
ramirez
hafner
peralta
martinez
belliard
garko

thats not too bad if you ask me.

coco sucked ass last season in right field he dropped a few of them and dived all the time and missed, so moving coco to right to add manny or another left fielder would be good. manny a bad mouth lol man learn so baseball then come back and talk, cuz manny would be great helping our young guys, he is only of the best hittlers ever man if u like it or not and u can learn so much from him.

Coco was the best LEFT fielder in the league last season. I don't know what you were watching. I never recalled him dropping any catches. And he dove when he knew he was going to get it. Watch the history of sportscenter and you'll see a lot of Coco diving for balls and making huge plays, while also the right decision. Time and time again he held players to singles that could have been easy doubles, preventing runners from advancing, etc. Why? He's a natural center fielder, but he's playing the big fish in the small bowl at left. I would not trade him for anyone.

Carlos Lee would be a great pickup for us. They need pitching, and we're fairly wealthy in that area, so some trade could be worked out that won't affect our solid batting.

Ken Griffey Jr. is also an option that people overlook. He's been injured, yes, so his productivity isn't overly impressive. But he's a seasoned vet that can get it done when he steps up to the mound. We don't need him to play the whole season: we will have solid bats and pitching to keep us competitive. We need him in the big games, the last games of the season, to step up to the plate and hit balls when it counts. To be the guy that refuses to leave guys on base, in scoring position: the traits our offense severely lacked last season. Be the guy that takes the pressure off of our young bats... bats that average around 23 years old, in need of a mentor with experience. I think Griffey can be that guy, the sleeper next season. And he won't come too expensive either in a trade.

All I want for the Indians next season:
A right-fielder / 1st base,
veteran,
that can hit consistently,
and can be a good mentor.

Face it. Casey Blake is going to be a starter next season either right field or first base. Broussard is as good as gone. Broussard's replacement better be good, not a Jose Hernandez or a filler. Someone bigger than that to bat behind Vic. Then we'll see October.
