Marcus No Dunks Given Morris

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They made a good point on The chase down podcast about him having a midrange game that Wade, Niang don’t have. With those guys after a hard close they’re only other way to score is to go all the way to the basket and Morris can pump fake and shoot a jumper

Midrange is critical in the playoffs. Teams tend to make it harder to get open threes.

Among the things that I took away from game 5 rotations:

1. We are annoyed by JBB, but resting Jarrett Allen rather than playing him hurt allows him to be fresher and healthier for this key game 6. The only hope the Cabs had at closing this game in six was to have Allen rested and still win. The gamble paid off.

2. Mook is providing a template of what the team needs on the roster going forward. The Cavs lack a quality 3/4 forward who can break into the rotation. Niang made his career as the fourth big who spaces and mucks things up. When moved into a bigger role, his weaknesses were more pronounced. Wade could have been that guy, but he's never stayed healthy at the end of a season. It's time to upgrade when this post season concludes.

3. The Cavs outpaced the Magic in points in the paint 42 to 30. Counterintuitively, the Magic were whistled for 17 fouls and the Cavs were called for 25. Some may claim I'm being a sore winner remembering this outlier occurrence, but it's absolutely an important data point going into game 6; it reveals more than just validation that the refs weren't good last night. It reveals Paolo routinely overwhelmed the man defending him. His ease getting to his spots and getting clean looks speaks to Okoro and Strus looking overwhelmed trying to defend him with only Mobley exhibiting defensive success. If the Magic were more accurate from three, they easily could have stolen this game.

Marcus Morris was such a nice addition to this team.

He and Tristan bring a level of toughness that I always enjoy.

Our tweeners are all 2-3's rather than 3-4's, and that really shows up against bigger teams.

Mook is almost 35. So it's kind of a mook point. Bachero would wear him down quick. I think it's better Mook comes in fresh later so he can be more effective. We really needed Wade for Banchero.

I remember when Steve Kerr had his "turn back the clock" playoff game in 2003, he couldn't play the next game two days later because at his age he was too beat up. He could give the Spurs a different look every so often, but at 37 being in the rotation was too hard.

There will be some interesting names out there in free agency: Caleb Martin, Royce O'Neale, Kyle Anderson and Doug McBuckets to name a few.

I know what you mean with Banchero firing over Okoro, but he kept him out of the paint and made him take bad shots. He made a bunch of tough ones. Maybe he is just on fire right now, but I think throwing a bunch of looks at him is still a good idea.

I agree with this - I think Okoro played good defense on Banchero and he just hit a lot of tough shots. I'd go with the same thing and dare Banchero to hit those same low percentage shots again. Make him actually do it before we adjust to him as if he already has.

I was helping my stepdaughter move a week ago, and lifting the heavy shit just like I did 20 years ago. Could barely move the next day.

So yeah, the old guys can still get it up sometimes. We just can't keep it up for as long.

Bob Dole didn’t have that problem. Bob Dole was the first ED spokesman. Bob Dole consumed so many blue diamonds that the needed someone to stand on Bob Dole’s coffin lid to nail it shut.

What happened to gender neutral Bob Dole? Or non-human beam of pure energy Bob Dole?
