Mark Mulder?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
UPDATE:

The Indians have reportedly offered Mark Mulder a two-year deal that would guarantee him $8 million with a chance to earn about $7 million more in incentives.

The Rangers have offered less guaranteed money, but they're two-year proposal could be worth $18.75 million through incentives. It's unclear where the Cardinals are, but they're also believed to have a two-year offer on the table. The three teams are the finalists for Mulder's services

If he's smart he takes the guaranteed money from the Tribe. He can then get himself healthy and go after a big payday in two years when he's still only 31. And hopefully in those two years he can help us grab a WS ring

the key is the Cardinals - how are they going to respond to their losing Jeff Suppan (especially to a division rival)?

Update:

Decision time
Jan 5 - Indians GM Mark Shapiro is still negotiating with Mark Mulder, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. The Tribe, Rangers and Cardinals are the three finalists for the former 21-game winner who is recovering from rotator cuff surgery.

Texas and Cleveland have reportedly offered Mulder two-year contracts. The deals are believed to guarantee the left-hander about what he made last season ($7.75M) and are laced with incentives. The Cards made a one-year offer with an option before Christmas.

Should be interesting to see if we get Mulder.. Then we can dump Byrd when he comes back..

This gy did win the CY oung a couple of years ago. He could be ahuge addition.

This would be a hell of an signing for you guys...if everyone were to stay healthy, you could easily be a pretty good WC contender.

Byrd Dropping?

Man, this guy is taking forever to decide:
Jan 10 - It's nearing decision time for Mark Mulder. According to the Dallas Mornining News, Mulder has all the information about the three teams still in the running -- Texas, Cleveland and St. Louis -- and plans to decide where he will play within 48 hours.

Mulder's agent, Gregg Clifton, said all three clubs have offered similar two-year, incentive-laden contracts that could be potentially worth around $18 million.

"It's not about money now because the offers are basically the same," Clifton told the newspaper. "Mark has to make a baseball decision. There are many different factors he has to consider, and he wants to take his time and think it through."

One of the best offenses in baseball can't be a bad choice in CLE, even with all the SP's we have.

Now Gange said he'd decide the next day, then took 7, and it was hell for me. If he hasn't made his decision by Friday at Midnight I'm gonna be mad. I understand taking time, but when a deadline is posted by you or your agent, abide to it.
