TMac had an up and down day today. Though outside of the 2 HRs, he didn't give up a lot at the end of the day...

Collins' HR wouldn't have been out in a lot of big league parks and that type of double he had was a bit more luck than a good hit...
Either way, he was looking to go oppo and has been putting up good ABs...
Come mid season, he will be up in the bigs with someone though which team is hard to say. If he was even an average defensive catcher, he would likely be up by now...

I know....I know. Collins is 28 and isn't strong defensively anywhere, but at what point do you say "ok this guy is absolutely raking and we are struggling to score runs and hit with any authority"? Coming into tonight he was 330/423/549/972 with 9 HR and 11 2B in 173 AB. So far tonight he's 2-2 with a HR and a 2B. I don't know how you fit him in, but damn if I don't want to find out if his performance is a mirage or he's figured something out.

No shit he's putting up good AB. The 2B down the line was a thing of beauty. No, he didn't smoke it. He just went with it nicely and hit it where they weren't.
Yeah, we wouldn't want a below average defensive catcher that can hit to replace a worse defensive catcher that can't hit. That would be absurd. I'm not saying the Zack Collins is the answer to any of our issues. I only know that Zunino is the worst catcher in the league and is hurting this team with his performance.

Yeah, 400 ft to CF would have been out in Progressive Field to the right of the high LF wall. Where did Collins HR go out coach?

It didn't go out to CF, it was in the alley area between LF and CF... so it would have been what about 380 feet... So it may have gotten out of Progressive, but I believe it would have been just short...

I like to heap praise on prospects when they deserve it, but my boy Pries is letting me down bigtime. He's struggling and I hope he gets things turned around. He's the type of prospect that doesn't do anything great, but he could be solid in every aspect.
