MLB Lock-Out is Finally Freakin’ Over

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Every single union negotiation I ever did required that I make that point at one time or the other.

Funny thing is that the best union negotiators knew that, and didn't mind in the least. They needed the rest of the bargaining committee to hear that from management so that the employees would have reasonable expectations. That way, the union negotiator doesn't have to say that to his guys himself, and so can retain his status of being an advocate for their positions rather than looking like he is knuckling under to management when the real give and take begins.
Absolutely! I know the old psychological ploy to always ask for more than you actual want, but this is taking that a step further.

By the way, good to hear from you Q!

How well do you think these negotiations are going overall? I know it's a different type of union than you have dealt with, but I think of everyone here you have the most knowledge about how discussions probably go.

This is a big deal if true.
More competitive inter league games. May lead to more inter league trades.
Draft pick compensation was always a hinderance to the FA market.

Now what they could do is if a FA gets signed from another team, the team that they were signed from just gets an extra comp pick in round 2-5 type of thing based off of WAR produced the year before by that player.

So MLB has only submitted 1 official proposal since they instituted the lockout.. They said the lockout was to accelerate the negotiation process. Meanwhile the players are calling for daily meetings..

Go players Go!

MLB/Owners are crumbling and starting to cave a bit.
That's good, I'm not sure if Baseball could really survive another lockout.

Not that MLB would fold, because it definitely wouldn't, but it is right on the verge of going from major sport to fringe sport. A lockout could do the trick.

I'd guess agreement within 2 weeks.
