MLB Trade Deadline 23...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
not a great deal of information about Jhonny Severino, the prospect going back to the Pirates..

"... Severino is a switch hitter with plenty of raw power from both sides. Like Barrios, Severino is also known to be a solid runner..."

He's 19 (going to be in about three months)... plays SS and 3B in the Arizona Complex Leagues & was a well thought of IFA.. A bit of a lottery ticket, to be sure..
I think that sounds like a pretty fair return don't you?

The possible equivalent from the Guardians would be Angel Genao.. I would be okay in the Brewers situation to sacrifice an Angel Genao for two months (and ca$h) of Carlos Santana, right now...

I think that would be fair and Los would be a good bench bat for a playoff contender. Problem is, I'm not convinced that's what we are and I think I would prefer to get some exposure to one of the youngins'.

Civale ranked #7 starters at trade deadline.

Agreed... the Guardians are NOT where the Brewers are.. the point of the posting was to provide a reference.. The kid the Pirates are getting back (he is an 18 year old kid) has some ability.. Will he blossom like a Chourio?.. Don't know.. Angel Genao is just like him.. very talented.. will he blossom?..

C Corey Lee is going back to the White Soxs...

Plawecki to the Rangers, essentially insurance for the Heim injury...

Scherzer has full no trade clause.. so, before the details of the deal are revealed.. he has to waive that clause.. Financially.. Scherzer's deal is short and expensive.. The remaining $$$$$$ on Scherzer's contract is about $ 14.4 MM for the rest of the 2023 season and $ 43.44 MM for 2024...

The Rangers have a very strong and deep minor league system with both pitchers and position players. The guess is the financial burden the Rangers take on will reduce the prospect assets going back to the Mets who will be in desperate need of upgrades.. The make up of this deal, given the massive contract of Scherzer, can only result in disappointment w/r to the return..

The Rangers making this kind of deal will certainly create a level of urgency in Seattle.. me thinks..
