I don't understand why it's not the last Sunday in July in a sense... Why not just make it the Last Sunday in July at midnight
Supposedly they didn’t want players to be pulled in the middle of games (daytime games on weekends) ... but it sb on Monday (day off of minors) so you can pull a guy or two up from AAA on Monday, just in case you need them.

Does it seem like the middle playoff teams are just not trying to keep up with the big boys? Other than Seattle and Castillo, what was a major trade? You can say Minni and Lopez but that didn't cost much.... Just seems like the middle level teams know their chances in a playoffs especially if you have to go 3 games and then turn around and play the top 2 teams without having your starting pitching lined up and rested. So much for adding excitement...

Why add if it’s tight, and you likely won’t compete?
If you never try to compete, you never will compete.
Winning a division title...any division title...is a big deal.
Even if all you get out of it is a team full of very young players getting much beneficial playoff experience.
How many position players expected to be on this team next year, outside of Jose, have even one game of playoff experience? How many members of our pen?
Talent is wonderful. Experience is just as meaningful when the post season arrives.
