NBA Finals Game 1 | Cavs @ Warriors | June 4th | 9:00pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually don't think I can handle these Finals. Why don't we just cancel, and declare co-champions?

Would have loved to see Allen play for Cleveland and have a throwback game and just nod as Curry goes to the bench.

Actually prefer it now to have JR put up a Allen type game. Payback for just being a throw in.

Windy was just on WKNR and he is very uncertain regarding this series because of the lack of familiarity between these two teams. He says that the Warriors had an easy path to the Finals (Grizzlies were hurt, Rockets weren't as good as the Clippers). He spoke to people in the NBA in the last 24 hours and they said they would be shocked if the Cavs weren't swept. He said that the pressure is probably on the Warriors because everyone expects them to win. Everyone across the U.S. is cheering and favoring the Warriors. They have already planned where they would have their parade if they win. It doesn't bother the Cavs if they are called underdogs, the moment won't be too big for these guys. This could come to their advantage. LeBron is relieved that he isn't the favorite too (since he was the favorite for the last 4-5 years with the Heat). He also mentioned how it could be hard to judge the Cavs defense (was it because they played the Bulls and Hawks?).

I'm pretty sure that Windy knows very little.

I'm curious, though, as to why he thinks the bolded is true. I mean, many of us FEEL that way, but why would it actually be true? Residual hatred for LeBron. Ongoing derision of the city of Cleveland? A narrative that the media are selling and that casual fans are buying? Why does the "lovable loser" narrative never work for us? Why don't people outside of Cleveland want us to end the title drought?

I was saying it more so for the people that claim he is the best shooter ever already. I still got Allen in his prime being light year's ahead of Curry. Just would have loved to see that moment when Allen had an amazing 3 point game and nods at Curry like "not yet, you haven't passed me."

Really? I think Curry is definitely a better shooter than Allen was and probably the best shooter ever.

In Allen's best 3 point shooting season (05-06), he shot 41.2% from 3 on 8.4 attempts per game. Just this year, Curry is shooting 44.3% from 3 on 8.1 attempts per game. And Curry's numbers are even more impressive considering how many of those he actually creates and shoots off the dribble. Only 58% of Curry's threes were assisted compared to Allen's 75%.

Midrange wise, they're closer but Steph is still superior. In his career, Curry is a 44.8% shooter from 10-16 feet and a 46.2% shooter from 16 feet to the 3, whereas Allen is 44.4% and 43.6% in those respective areas. Curry also has the better single-season percentages in each of those areas.

Finally, their free throw shooting is close. Curry is a career 90.0% shooter from the line, boasting a single-season best 93.4%, while Allen is an 89.4% shooter from the line, boasting a single-season best 95.2%.

So while their midrange shooting and free throw shooting are very close, I think the big advantage Curry holds over Allen is his 3 point shooting, which includes his superior ability to shoot it off the dribble.

I'm not going to dissect the Warriors or the Cavaliers like a lot of people are doing. Each team has its strengths and weaknesses. For the most part, by the time you reach the Finals those strengths and weaknesses balance each other out. This WILL be a tough series. I predict that the team that turns the ball over the fewest times in the last 5 minutes/game, hits 80%+ of its free throws/game and has the ball last, will win the series. This Finals may well go down to who has the ball last, with 10 seconds on the clock in Game 7. If that happens, I'm not betting against Lebron Fucking James............

Does anyone know how many seats are in row 9 of section 229? I got 13,14,15,16 and was hoping these are aisle seats. Anywhere to check?

Be happy you got seats without mortgaging your house or giving up your first born child.

Cavs playing defense at a very high level. A VERY high level. That counts for a lot. The Bulls and Hawks didn't just lose - they GAVE UP.

That said - I'm still crapping my pants. Never expected them to play so well so far in the playoffs. Nonetheless, there would still be some disappointment, if they didn't close the deal. Probably our best chance since the '07 Indians, who were a game from playing the vastly-inferior Rockies in the World Series...
I still can't talk about the 07 Indians. I remember being stunned that we lost three in a row and we had Sabathia going twice plus Carmona who won 18 or 20 games that year. Going into game 7 I just had a feeling it was over. I have no dought the Tribe would've beaten the Rockies.

I too have no dought that the Tribe would have beat the Rockies. Our starting pitching was nuts that year. An oft overlook pitcher that year was Paul Byrd. Sure he didn't have high end speed, but his control was solid.

Mike & Mike just talked about 60% of the Vegas betters are putting money on the Cavs, and stated they think it's because of the good story it would be for LeBron moving home and winning the ship. I'm not sure now about Windy asserting a majority of the country is rooting for the Warriors. Most times the majority loves the underdog, and here we have not only the Cavs being the underdog but a great coming home story as well.
