First-time poster; long-time lurker.
After our wins in Games 2 and 3, I really believed the Cavs could win the title this year. That optimism made the ensuing three losses pretty heartbreaking.
But as painful as it is knowing the season is now over and our hopes of a championship are dashed for another year, I don't think I'll ever forget how much fun I had watching these guys play over the past several months--the Finals included.
LeBron's homecoming; the early ups and downs; the mid-season questions (and accusations) surrounding LeBron's health, team chemistry, and Blatt's adequacy; Mozgov, Shumpert, and Smith arriving via (in hindsight) season-saving trades; finding an incredible rhythm in the second half of the year and playing some very memorable basketball; somehow managing to progress through three rounds of the Playoffs with two of our "Big Three" hobbled or out with season-ending injuries for much of it; Delly's (brief) rise to fame: There are so many amazing moments to celebrate and savor from this season--not the least of which is going on to win two Finals games (and remaining highly competitive in two and a half others) against a team most everyone thought would effortlessly sweep the shorthanded Cavs!
Tonight, I, too, find myself deeply frustrated by the shadow of the larger prize that might have been. Weeks from now, however, I feel confident I can look back on all the amazing moments from this season and smile.
On to next year! #GoCavs! Forever #ALLinCLE!
